Fun Halloween fact about myself: What it is my stance with the occult? Scared and respectful. I’m not like “ahhh witches are gonna kill me!” More a subtle “no, I’m never going to buy something labeled haunted or anger spirits or violate a pagan ritual. If my stuff is real, so is yours.” Do I think demons dwell on the earth kidnapping lost souls? Not really. Am I gonna tempt them? Not a chance.
Update on Crochet Purse: I didn’t like doing the base in rounds, so I’m making a second purse bottom (first is now repurposed cat bed). I solved a system of equations using the golden ratio to determine ideal rectangle. Turns out this is way too big for my purpose, so I once again winged it. Now I need to figure out how to make my stitch count equal to (a multiple of 14) + 2
Random book recommendation of the day: Enchantress from the Stars by Sylvia Engdhal - 1970s young adult sci-fi with a bit of romance, solid story according to 10 yr old me. Bulldozers are dragons, aliens attempt to take over a primitive planet, but an even more advanced race back up the medieval peasants. Based on the conundrum of “aliens making human documentary, but can’t you throw the starving orphan some bread?”

Speaking of doing to use up excess emotional energy, I feel much better now that I have begun to crochet a purse. I have crocheted only three other types of items, both of which were very different, so this is a challenge. Because I’m bored and slightly nuts, I’ve decided to adapt a pattern for a round purse to a rectangle. So far it’s been going well though! Very homemade looking, but pretty nonetheless. -
