Congratulation! You have been reincarnated into another world after your brutal and untimely death. But something seems to have gone wrong. You are undead, though your mind still functions.

You can be any kind of undead you can think of, vampire, skeleton, draguar, zombie, etc.

Is it a blessing or a curse?
Can I chose a Jack-o'-Lantern type of undead with ghostly fire and access to a special halloween realm where I spend the day and spend the nights in the overworld causing mischief. Also diet would be sweets and regular human food, but sweets is the main and regular food is more for taste rather than nutrition.
Also does undead count as reincarnation as technically you are kinda being revived as an undead rather than a living entity.

Yes to Pumpkin Spirit, no to reincarnation. In most Isekai, the person is wholly alive, a second chance at life rather than being undead.

Well reincarnating into a vampire is pretty common even though they aren't alive. Shouldn't you mean reincarnating into something that is wholly sentient and able to maintain full control of themselves and actions? This would exclude wights and draugr's though because while sentient, they usually aren't in control of their actions. They are instinctive.

Thank you for the correction.

Being a vampire is a curse. Cursed with awesomeness, apparently.

My main caveat with going undead is that I'd like to have friends. Undead generally aren't known for being social

True, they tend to be solitary. Maybe you could befriend a necromancer?

Vampires often clump into little clans or whatever. Or they start clans when one sires another, which goes on and on until there are hundreds in this extended siring-tree. I will admit though, that these clans aren't typically large. 200-300 is probably an example of a larger one. I've never read anything about a "Vampire Metropolis".

I would imagine instead of being completely solitary...they just have much smaller social circles than others. And it's probably pretty inclusive/nigh impossible to get new membership into it.

Vampires are usually social but ultimately they're the exception rather than rule. Most ghosts, poltergeist, etc are usually location bound and have trouble getting out. Zombies and variants aren't known for their ability to talk. Skeletons.... yeah. Sorry, not big on the no flesh thing.

Dance in the Vampire Bund.
Owari no Seraph.
These are two examples I can think of, off the top of my head.

oh shit how could I forget Dance in the Vampire Bund!!!! Loved that one. But..Owari no Seraph? I remember that.....thing. Shitty shounen trying to be edgy with tragedy concepts. It was pretty popular though I admit that. Idk, I might not have given it enough of a chance...but when it started resembling another "powah of friendship" zombie I just checked out of it.

I read the manga more than the anime for both.
In Owari no Seraph, there are literal underground cities full of vampires around the world, where human children are bl??d slaves to them.
I agree that it is on the edgy side and overemphasises the power of friendship.
I did like the ambiguity of BL undertones, if you looked for them, though.

No matter what undead I become, I would hate it.

You see, I'm a foodie. It's hard to be a foodie when you can't really eat anything.

Ghost? Can't grip the food, much less eat it.

Skeleton? No tongue.

Zombie? Rotting tongue.

"Become a vampire," you say? But I love garlic. And I would have to suck blood, which seems really fucking weird to me. Like, you suck the blood, and then what? If they die, you have a body to clean up, and if not, you have a really awkward situation to deal with. And the logistics of getting blood just seem like a chore.

It all seems like shit to me.
