That's true, to me the 1st ranking series in the site is utterly trash
Good thing I only ever hit number two~~~!
Seriously though, for me, I dislike it when things feel unrealistic or too forced, and I prefer there to not be overly exaggerated "attributes" to character's appearances sexually, no DDDDD boobs, or 2 foot dicks or 16 sets of rock hard abs or whatever. I'm being a bit hyperbolic here to hopefully make my point.
Maybe it's just me, but I have gotten more turn on by a well-described makeout scene than scenes of actual sex. And one of the biggest turn-offs for me was actually something in a story I like otherwise, Chapter 67 of "Demon Lord's Succubus" - the "Sex Duel" - Two characters who had been all lovey-dovey with their prospective partners, were arguing and somehow it turns into a contest of who was more manly, in which they forced themselves upon their lovers in the meeting room, despite protests, and yet somehow at the end both of the women were ok with it.
I like the story otherwise, so I've overlooked it, and maybe it wouldn't bother someone else, I suppose this stuff is really subjective, but it just felt like a big shift in the characters for both women not still be even a little angry, even if they enjoyed it somewhat, it was still a really bad time, and they were being used as implements in the fight between the two men, rather than being made love to because of affection.
I'm not really sure if I will enjoy the "love stories" of those two sets of characters anymore because of that. In the end, for me, it really had little to do with the sex bit itself but more in how weird their reactions seem to me.
I think the whole crux of the argument I'm trying to make is, I like things to be somewhat grounded in reality. To me that makes it an enhancement to the actual plot if it can be woven in and not feel too out of place, rather than just a detour taken along the way. I don't really care as long as it feels like it makes sense within the story and the characters thus far.
--------
That said, I'm writing my own story for the first time, and I have the smut tag in it, and the main character with succubus traits and I realize it's not as easy to write a sex scene as it might seem. I've not really done like I've seen some stories do and try to make every other, or ever two chapters an explicit scene. I've tried to have them be a part of the normal story flow, though I do feel like they might still seem a bit out of place if Lilith didn't have succubus traits. I'm also using a flimsy excuse of her not fully knowing/controlling her abilities, in the beginning, to help fit in the few times I have experimented with explicit scenes thus far.
Going forward I hope to implement them in a more sensible way, and eventually maybe even rewrite past scenes to fit better, especially the first-ever. I feel like it's a difficult line to straddle, especially when you're a brand new writer too.
