It's best to pretend you are rich and would love to commission a "comic" for a couple of k and then offer to pay them upfront, revealing their PayPal. Then contact PayPal via email and report them. You'll also find out the real name of the scammer that way.
That, is brilliant.

Nice! Not as cool as the two guys I know who worked together to get $200 from a scammer as a bribe for the "FBI Agent" one of them pretended to be to not report the incident to his superiors...

Damn, have they recorded it? Absolute peak.
It was in the 90s, started on a BBS and moved to phone calls, over one month. They considered turning the guy in, but then figured they'd see if they could get something from him instead... and pulled it off.
