I really think the production staff dropped the ball on promotions. There's never been a successful Supergirl series/movie in history, and I don't imagine it's going to happen anytime soon with that image.Why does she still look like she's still in elementary school?
Honestly, I feel like part of the problem is that they really just try to sell her as female Superman. They're following the wrong story. Superman: The Animated Series did it right.
