Changing Patreon After Launching?

I launched my Patreon page a couple days after XNPC went live, offering eight advance chapters for $5 and sixteen advance chapters for $10. Problem is, staying sixteen chapters ahead is turning out to be harder than I thought. Would it upset my followers if I got rid of the $10 tier and just ran with the $5 tier for the foreseeable future?

Why are you leaving money off the table

Refund them and ask them to join the 5-dollar tier.

Although it's quite a bad move. You are already signalling that you are in over your head. Hurts your confidence to do it this early, although I guess better now than later? Because most likely you'll get some more paying subs along the road, and the earlier you do it, the less it hurts and the less it hurts your reputation.

How many have stepped in at each tier? Might be worth asking THEM about it, if they'll be upset if you fall behind and might want some money refunded or something. I think there is a way to interact with readers (I think my patreon expired as I never managed to set it up). Just come out and tell them that you may have trouble keeping your promised lead up and see what they say. Suspect you'll lose a few, have a few drop to the lower tier, and the rest - most likely a majority - will just say: "Keep writing and we'll stick around. But try to meet your promise, at least occasionally."

I had two on the $10 tier, but they canceled immediately after subscribing. Apparently that's something people do if they're not sure if they want to subscribe for multiple months. And since they never re-subbed, I guess they didn't.
Dude how do you stay so far ahead!!

Then just cancel the $10 tier, or suspend it indefinitely and reactivate when/if you get sufficient backlog.
