Fanfics and Monetization

Sorry but for legal reasons, paypal/patreon/etc is banned in fanfics. Fanfictions are a legal gray zone and if we allowed financial gain of any kind, we would be legally compliant with copyright infringement.

There are detection in place to remove any paypal, patreon, etc... links if your story is a fanfiction.

Are you able to place the Patreon or PayPal link inside the chapters of your original rather than on your profile page? That might work?

Given that the most TL stories I saw had at least a link to patreon in their synopsis with advanced chapters, I'd say it's correlated, but not the side effect. There's a reason AO3 has strict TOS about monetization and this enforcement probably has the same reasons as AO3. Basically it's eliminating FA part of FAFO that was here for long.

The "Tip" button still displays properly on non-fanfiction stories, so don't worry! Overall, I think this and the translation removal update was a step forward.

Checked their content policy. Stolen MTLs are against their rules under Copyright infringement and Plagiarism. AI slop is allowed, as long as it's fanfiction AI slop.
