I used to think that maybe the people coming to read translations also look for original fictions since they are here so it wasn't a big deal to have them. But the preponderance of observed evidence from reading the lounge today indicates that translation readers only interface with translations. If anything, the translations siphon readership from indie authors. So fuck them, from now on if I see a suspected tranlation, I will join in on reporting it.

I wouldn't mind translations if they were with the author's permission, but the stolen stories have got to go.

Is translating my own novel allowed?
And best if you make it clear in your synopsis too.
Only with proof provided. Email SH about it [email protected]

just in case because this has been asked before: you don't have to declare anything if you have NEVER posted that novel (in original language) of yours on the internet or any medias. As much as some users here would love to, no, we don't have the ability to read your mind nor do we own the library that compiles every written work in history

I'm not an English speaker... writing your own story in another language is not a translation :blob_melt: I don't even know why others would even ask it, besides trying to find a loophole to get by the rules.

Because its such a retarded thought that I can't help but think that its to be slimy and get past the rules.

There are paranoid people out there... :blobrofl:

Some people are really afraid of doing something wrong, while some people just don't give a fuck. For the former we have to spell everything out just in case. For the latter... well, there's this party thread to make fun of them: FAFO!

Yeah, the sense of entitlement is pretty insane. Translators have also been flooding the latest updates with their slop, uploading multiple novels at the same time, making it harder for actual authors to be seen.

And there's this guy in the Lounge telling a translator to "stand proud" and calling him "goated." Yeah, so proud and goated for stealing someone else's work without permission

I liked the one who heavily implied all the writers here are just AI slop producers and the translations are the only reason to be here.

Reading the longue just shows how big the issue of translations was/is. No wonder Tony did something in the end, because the number of posts about people realizing they were breaking the rules is bigger than one would have expected if you just told them there is an issue of translations flooding the site.
