RR always start with peeps giving you good feedback and ratings. Then, once your rank goes high, all the mfkers come and beat your sorry ass back to oblivion.

There are a few exceptions to this, as I met a few authors whose work never attracted said mfkers, but you can't be sure.

Just felt like sharing my positive experience with Retard Road, but maybe that's why it's been positive for me?
It definitely is a good place to post (as long as your story isn't smut). Despite mods forming cliques and being pretty corrupt in their enforcement of rules, the reality is that the site has more people than here so you have a higher chance of getting readers. I can beg for you to crosspost rather than abandon this site and go over there, but the reality is that your author journey may take you many places that you didn't expect to go.

Rule of the Internet, women are either 1/3rd of or 3x their stated age.
OMG, she might be 10. A child prodigy of authorship.

Wait, my stated age is 2700. How old am I?
8,100 years old (which is kind of hot ngl. If I wasn't so into futas, I'd totally go for GGGGILFs).

How many chapters did this guy read? Over 100 chapters
I have read two stories by whatsawhizzer that I hated, and I read both for over 100 chapters. Sometimes you don't find problems until later (his stories have interesting concepts, but I tire of his MC acting inconsistently and the unaddressed soft retcons).

I was going to post my slow burn fantasy novel on there, but where I had it on two other platforms, it kept getting denied. I was worried about posting it though, as it’s not the usual thing on there. So I decided to try on here instead and have been pleasantly surprised. After hearing some of the feedback people have gotten, I’m leery about RR. I’m open to feedback, but random “this sucks” or “how stupid” comments help no one.
That site seems to love fantasy and hate romance for some reason. It's a shame, as the relationship between characters is what I love most in stories.

You can't expect peeps who rarely touch grass to love stories reminding them of their failures in life.

Bias alert: I abhor RR. If I ever come back to that site, it is with nukes.

I recently started cross-posting on RR, and despite my story being non-litrpg smut-heavy futanari superheroes, I'm already pushing rising in my genre. My experience with engagement has been really positive as well, particularly with other authors. People are really engaged with swapping shout-outs/reviews in a way they aren't here on scribblehub, though the recommendation economy is different here so it wouldn't make sense regardless. If your story is good, i think theres probably an audience anywhere!

Edit: i post links to the smut parts of chapters here, according to polls *most* readers click over to read here.

They review bombed everything I wrote with multiple half star ratings that I feel were of malicious intent. I'm still there, but you'll have to forgive me if I'm thrice burned once shy. There are good people there, just don't gain the attention of the cabal.

I don’t write the usual LitTPG or usual tropes. An online friend told me that it wouldn’t be a good match on there for that reason. Though they also had a lot of vocal, unhelpful comments on their stuff. ?

As a reader, I have no reason to hate them, but I do wish they treated authors better.

Never mind, fuck Royal Road. Any site that abuses my bovine friend is fucking trash.

Well, the reasoning is trash is more what I am talking about. He gave a long rant about it, and I said, "salutations." I can't be mad as the commenter is still engagement. And it's like they say, better to be loved and hated than be mehbleh.

Yeah, I know it's from a different era of RR, but mfkers there are still same depraved mfkers from 2020.

For my fic both my RR and SH readers behave somewhat the same. Some write page-long theories and respectful comments. Others demand smut. They’re basically the same people.

which cabal did you run afoul of. The place I came from? Had nothing good to say about the writing cabals. I know there's politics to RR that are annoying. That's the "big site", and there's sweet Patreon bucks at stake. And, human nature is what it is.

what a perfect ass. when god put lips on him, he ruined the perfect asshole. (one of my dead father's colorful wisdoms)

where I came from, we had a writer "infiltrate" one of the writing groups there. So we had the inside scoop on some of their shenanigans. Some of us would have liked to strangle them with their knee-socks, LMAO. I'm not important enough to matter, but if you are? They suck.

Your father would have been a great smut author.
not that he did that, but maybe that's where I got that from then.
my smut project, got me my first couple of fan mails.
granted, I would rather it was for one of my more serious projects, but hey, I'll take what i can get.

I can't write smut. My students read my stories, hence, I don't put adult stuff in there (at least, not the pr0n).

Hence, the Wong guy is ballistic about my novel being a 'nakama shonen protag bs.' But his 'review' is not the only one dissing I received; I had several revs discussing how the bullying in my story (I never glorified it; I was bullied myself) reminded them of their bullied selves and gave my work low ratings. Like, dude, I know you're a pushover like me, but if you let yourself get traumatized by a work of fiction that doesn't even glorify the stuff you're yapping about, I guess you deserved it?

I think RR is also the place where I got told that all teenagers are horny and should always jump to have sex with anyone displaying the motive? I got a feedback telling me that because my MC would avoid sex without marriage.

Though to be fair, another--more sensible--RR denizen made a feedback that helped me improve my narration.

Rule of the Internet, women are either 1/3rd of or 3x their stated age.

As I don’t think retarded 10 year old can type like you do, it must be well…
I love this site I love the retro vibe of the sexist remarks
Royal Road.
I don't think I need to explain, we know.

It's just, I've had no personal experience with the site and I've only seen people be like "Royal Road, more like Retard Road!"
"LITRPG ADDICTS THAT ARE KIDS WHO CAN'T READ"

Despite all the negativity I seen on here and other sites, I decided to try posting my slow-burn psych-horror, zombie apocalypse diary on there. It's definitely uh, niche, to say the least, so I went in expecting literally nothing because I'm cringe and I'm free. However, I was quite surprised by how normal it is there? I haven't seen or experienced anything too weird yet in the month I've been posting. Then again, I've been mildly active on the forums.

And despite my story being a bit off-meta, I've received a decent amount of views and some genuinely nice feedback in forms of reviews and comments I definitely wasn't expecting, since I do nearly no promotion. Haven't gotten anything malicious or purely in bad faith, which is surprising because my writing (especially for this story) is very meme-coded with heavy comedic tones and moderate swearing. It's very sarcastic and chaotic, but I guess my passion for my own story shines through? I also do a LOT of "I'm trusting you guys to piece things together on your own and not rely on me directly spoon-feeding you".

Just felt like sharing my positive experience with Retard Road, but maybe that's why it's been positive for me?
because I'm autistic and these are my people?
They are just mean. Idk, I don't write LitRPG, I lowkey hate fantasy, but I hated Honeyfeed more and forgot this site existed, so I bore the random fetish accusations when I was writing AKM.
I think you also belong on Retard Road.
Last I checked, I was in my 30s, not 90s.
I have a problem identifying what you're on about.
Heyyyyy.....

I was thinking about posting on RR, but I've heard lots about the community being really rude and only reading one genre. I write pretty niche LN stuff, and I'm used to the kind lads on Honeyfeed who couldn't write a harsh critique if there was a gun to their head. Sucks because it seems like RR gets more traffic than others.

HoneyFeed is the kindest of the three sites I first posted to (Retard Road, Scribble Hub and HoneyFeed). So if you're used to the kindness of HF peeps, I won't recommend you crossposting in that site.

You are right in saying that RR has the most traffic among the three, though.

All I know is that RR so far has proved to me that I can be a cringe meme queen, and still be coherent enough to capture people's attention effectively through my bizarre writing style.

RR has spiritually told me:

And I took that personally, and enjoyed it.
