Does anyone know of any good Fantasy Harem novels where the girls are actual powerhouses? I’m looking for stories where the love interests are equal to or stronger than the protagonist and keep growing alongside him.

I’m a bit tired of characters that are just treated like collectibles or become irrelevant after their introduction arc. I want them to be capable and stay involved in the action.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Are you into reverse harems (one FL, multiple men) or just regular harems (one ML, multiple women)?

I'm just looking for regular harems (one guy, multiple girls). Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

I'm currently reading Rebirth of the Nephilim and it has been pretty damn good, but it isn't as simple as the characters in the harem being equals in power but rather that they each have their own specialties. Like, you don't expect a warrior to roast everybody in a room like a mage just did with a fireball, right? Different powers with a variety of creative expectations. :blob_popcorn:

Hmm. Mine might be a close, though not perfect, match for you.

Not a harem per se, but there is a MFF thruple for the central relationship, and there are lots of strong female characters throughout the series, many of whom are stronger than the male character.

Now, the two women in the thruple are not stronger than the guy overall, but that's based on situation and his background, rather than a difference in potential. One of them starts off strong and experienced, the other one is starting as basically a civilian shoved into a not-civilian-friendly scenario, but she gets training and rapidly grows in strength when pushed.

Of course, a lot of it is slice of life/semi-cozy, so direct power isn't always the most important thing, and Kazue has plenty of indirect power. Partly because she has no idea that she has that much indirect power.

Anyway, back to the point: I am reaching the end of volume 7, and the MCs still can't compete power wise with a nine-tail, and the two nine-tailed kitsune who are frequently in their company are far enough beyond the baseline for having nine tails that they are going to remain stronger for a long time, and the stronger of them should remain stronger even past the end of the series.

If the FMCs having a lot of real agency will substitute for having more direct power than the MMC, then this might work for you.

Seriously, the world is filled with strong capable women. I just can't help but add them in almost reflexively; I have to remind myself to not make too many of the characters women.

I suggest mine, but I'm not sure; you might like it, you might not. They get strong and grow along the Mc, but then again, he gets stronger than them, and of course, they also catch up and grow. So, Idk it's your choice.

You might like mine. I’ve been trying very hard to avoid exactly the problems you’ve brought up. Idk if I’ve fully succeeded but I’ve tried. Main character is a pirate captain sorcerer and probably the most powerful member of the party overall, but he’s also also the squishiest and worst in close quarters. If you like TTRPGs I also play around a lot with the relationship between player character and player in a TTRPG.
