What motivates you to write?

I started my story with a lot of excitement to keep it going, and ended up burning through dozens of chapters in a month. Now, I've got a lot of ideas for the story I'm really excited about, but every time I sit down to actually write it out, I get distracted by literally everything. What tricks do you guys use to stay motivated and actually focus on your writing?

Music really helps me. In-between drives and what not or when I get some time to myself. I visualize my story to music like they're AMVs in my head.

Overwhelming emotions from pondering the nuances of the human condition, and how much better it would be if I was just a raccoon.

Hunger.
This is my only chance to stop dealing with the bullshit.
My only oportunity to maybe, maybe, stop my 8 to 3-what ever is necesary.
I am tired.
I know my chances are 1 in fuck me is too much people trying this shit... but I got no talent for sport, dealing drugs aint my thing, I am a men so no only fans or marrying into money, got no talent for music, investment world makes no sense (everything is manipulated, if you ever read grahams security analisis you know what i mean), so... writing is my only option (or winning the lottery wich I dont play).

This... was probably the most helpful.

Just give me free uninterruptible time and I'll start writing.

Thankfully, it's even easier to write without a PC or laptop nowadays. I'd say something with voice-to-text on my phone with Google Keep and fix it later when I have access to a desktop keyboard. This way, I can slip in a few lines at work during breaks. I don't even have to use English all the time; I can just translate it later.

Set a goal. 1000 words every day. Hit that goal. No matter what. Some days it is a struggle... Some days it's like pulling teeth. Still, you have to do it. And the more you do it, the easier it gets. Set a goal and stick to it.

You can do it.

Spite. Because I can't find what I want to read so I come up with a story.

Now if someone could tell me how to be motivated enough to regularly edit so I can actually upload shit, that'd be awesome.

Here, I can help if your driving force is spite. You can't do it. Now prove me wrong just to spite me.

Love.

You just have to love what you're writing. I know it sounds cliché, but love is what keeps me going when I have nothing else. I love it so much, and it means so much to me that I can't stand the thought of just letting it go. I have to see it through to the end.

My characters need to see the light of day. They're all I have, so it falls to me to write them. Nobody else is going to write my stories.

Myself. If I could draw, I'd draw, if I could sing, I'd sing, if I could dance or play music, I'd do that. Unfortunately, I suck at it all, and the best I can do is possibly write, so that's the medium I've chosen to use.

More specifically, I have ideas in my head that I want brought to fruition. I don't care if others like or dislike it, though it does help if others appreciate the work, but ultimately, I do it because I want to see it to the end. Everything else is a secondary concern. That is my motivation.

My advice, work at your own pace, take breaks and take time to re-read your story from the perspective of a reader to re-orient yourself from time to time, and lastly, enjoy yourself.

Hopefully this helps.
