This seems interesting.
Does anyone here want to join?

Nah, I don't want to add to the isekai genre when I have other things I want to write. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea. However, I am just not interested in the genre at the moment. Maybe I'll upload one of my older isekai stories? I don't know if that is allowed though.

I think it's allowed. As long as it hasn't been uploaded to any other site.

I'm writing an isekai (or at least a quasi one because we and the character who seems to be never learn about who they used to be), and I wouldn't enter a contest like this. In my opinion, its unlikely you'll get an organic good isekai from their guidelines. idk, I might be surprised, and I'm glad they're opening their publishing markets internationally (because historically Japan is a very closed market), but I doubt their panel will select something more than the generic isekai that climbs to the top of it's season and is quickly forgotten. I'd be happy to be surprised though.

Ultimately, in Japan, their publishing market works a lot differently than ours though, so it could end up working out.

Oh dear, Ai-chan doesn't have an isekai story properly planned out right now. Currently yet unpublished stories that Ai-chan has partially written are Daddy's Offensive Advance, Call of Oniichan and The Coal Fish. None of them are isekai. But thanks for highlighting it.

Maybe Ai-chan should start a new story titled, I Got Reincarnated Into Another World But My Stepmother, Stepsisters and Ex-Girlfriend Tagged Along So Now I Have To Escape From Their Lusty Advances While The Countries We Pass Through Get Destroyed By Our Passing Q^Q ^_^ UwU.

It would be happy news for me if there was an anime adaptation or something of the non-Japanese novels.

I’m praying for you. It would be wonderful if next year we get a new anime with your name as the writer???
I doubt it would happen, but if it does, I am going to shout you out directly. :blobrofl:

And they should already let novels be added, the competition is still not up on HF, at least it doesn't show up when submitting a novel.

I'm in the opposite boat. I like anime because it isn't western influenced. I despise most western media at this point. I do not want any adaptations to be successful over there, because I don't want them to start making western garbage for the masses.

Grand Prize — $5,000 USD
Winners: 1
Your novel will be scheduled for publication by KADOKAWA in Japan as a light novel, subject to KADOKAWA’s final approval.

Yeah, no. What kind of bullshit contest it is if judges are not the ones deciding whether you win the GRAND PRIZE or not. I won't pretend like this contest is bad. You have a chance of earning 3k$ for 50-80k words. And you don't even have to pay entry fee, that's a sweet deal for someone who writes fast. But at the same time it's a fucking clickbait. You won't get published, you have a chance to get published.

Oh, and it's hilarious they have a "special guest in the jury panel: Aneko Yusagi, writer of The Rising of the Shield Hero." I get that this is more of a clickbait, but seriously? You are going to use author of Shiled hero to judge the following.

Isekai Fantasy Relevance
The narrative explores the protagonist's adaptation or struggles in the new world.
The Isekai premise is integral to the plot rather than just a background setting.

Seriously? The author who uses isekai as a background setting except for the first half of the first volume???
It is.

If you check previous contests and their winners, nothing really came of them. But the thought of winning 3k sounds nice. They are probably just fishing for text to be used in some kind of AI database, if I want to use my tinfoil hat.
I think they are simply desperate as fuck. Both Kadokawa and Honeyfeed. Honeyfeed is barely alive and without these contest it would be dead as fuck. Barely anyone wants to use this site with a strict ass content guidelines when you already have RR. I don't think it counts as a compliment for a writing site that clearly wants to grow bigger when you say, it's quiet here. Which is one of the main reasons people use Honeyfeed.

As for Kadokawa, the isekai spring is running dry. They need something, anything. So they try to fish out something in sites for English.

Has it started yet? I mean, it's already July 7, but I don't see any toggleable contest box.

I want to commit. I loved isekai, and I hate that it's starting to become a dying genre. The rewards sure are promising, but it could be tough getting views in HF. I feel confident with my isekai ideas, so I want to join in the fun... If I can't make it, I'll just happily pat myself on the back... sigh...

Yeah, I think it's already started. There are already some stories participating in the contest.
