Yeah, I think it's already started. There are already some stories participating in the contest.
I don't think so.

I can't even get past Step 3.

Step 3
Select your novel’s genres, then check the box next to:
"Would you like to submit this novel to the MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 - THE ISEKAI presented by KADOKAWA?"

Edit: I remember HF not really being big on punctuality. Maybe it's a timezone issue? I dunno...

Currently I’m traveling but when I’m back home and checked again, I’ll report back. But for the past 2 hours, it was not an option.

You gave me a heart attack. I still can publish my novel here even though it's a new account.

truly one of the contests of all times

Tf. Are you serious? HoneyFeed is pretty quiet now, isn't this a pretty stupid move?

I don't think so.

They did not add the competition yet. Is my guess...

This seems interesting.
Does anyone here want to join?
If it wasn’t isekai, I might have joined. I have no ability to write isekai stories…
Here is my best go at setting up an isekai, but I have no idea how to continue it any further, so if any of you want to use this go ahead. Just let me know before hand.

On a teapot orbiting the Earth sat a mouse and a toad.

*croooaaak* “I found the best target. *croooaaak* The toad languidly said.

“Where, be quick with it, the more time we waste here, the more likely we are to be found.” Said the mouse.

*croooaaak* The target is Gahn Slun, here is info. *croooaaak* As the toad croaked it spat a blue pebble at the mouse.

“Great! Let us see. Gahn Slun, reclusive hermit who… Are you sure this is the guy! He hasn’t done anything with his life!?”

*croooaaak* “Yes.” *croooaaak*

“Could you stop with that croaking already! We both know that you are just making fun of me! Well ha ha ha, now stop it!”

*croooaaak* “Seems like our guy is about to die, what do you want to do?”

………………………..
The mouse screamed, meanwhile on Earth a plane was falling apart above a city, and standing on the roof of a skyscraper was one Gahn Slun, notorious windbag.
………………………..

*thump - thump - thump*

My heart beat slowed as I realized it was that most unfortunate of times. The one that comes for all, and the one we wish not to experience. Yet, my eyes have seen that seemingly ordinary object speeding towards me from above. The unwavering might of human toolmaking now no more than an overused and ragged commodity to be sold and ridden.

Its wide wings fell around me, labored over for its life to dangerous waste, from its construction under the union of man and machine, to its years of sparse but meticulous maintenance, to its death. There is no doubt that those working on its maintenance saw the risk of its failure, perhaps even many months ago, but that failure was ignored for the ever growing maw of greed. Oh, comrades who have seen this tragedy, keep this in your heart as to why we workers must capture those uncaring industries and give them to the people to rule.

The nose of the plane made contact with my forehead as I fell from the roof of my apartment. As I witnessed my fall, my body grew cold. My thoughts sparse, and my fear dissipating. I landed and then died. Which is surprising for it is clear that I still exist. I knew that the ever forward march of science, has yet to reach its ever distant peak. But for life after death to exist! How grand!

“Hey, Gahn Slun! Over here.” A small voice whispered. I turned my head to see a mouse-like being standing on its back feet. Confused, I tried to ask what it was, but no noise came from my mouth. “There is no time for questions, you will be reborn in a new world, here in about fifteen seconds. I need you to hold to your convictions, the people there are suffering under the rule of tyrants of magic Gh…” The strange creature disappeared as my vision went blank. Not black, nor white, just blank.

A minute went by, then an hour, and then a year. An all encompassing nothingness encroached and over took my mind. After a thousand years, or maybe just a second, something changed. A consistent clanking sound slowly filled my head, like the sound of metal striking stone. I regained feeling in my body, my feet felt damp, as if I had run through a puddle with socks on. As I was lost in thought, something tapped my face, and I slowly opened my eyes.

“Great, we got a living one!” Said a man in a weird hissing voice. I was in a cave, or perhaps a tunnel, and was standing on a pedestal. Surrounding me were 4 men in purple hooded robes. One was holding a pole, no, a staff that they used to poke my face a few times.

“Do you think it is stupid? We have poked it a few times, yet all it has done is open its eyes…” One hissed.

“Who cares! Let’s just get it to our boss.” Said another.

“Wait, stop!” I tried to speak up but was pulled down by two of them. I tried to fight back if only just a little. Yet I was dragged down a hallway. They didn’t seem to want to listen to what I wanted to say. Eventually we reached a giant library, occupied by a woman reading what can only be described as a tome.

It's Honeyfeed. They've had 'turn your story into manga' contests since 2022 and they have yet to actually publish anything.

If you don't care much about the story you submit I say go for it but currently this looks like signing away your rights to a story for a lump sum while it will never leave their website.

From what I've read, it only has to stay on the site for the contest duration. If it doesn't make it to final selection you can post it wherever you want.

I believe they did earthsea but it wasn't done very well...

I haven't seen it, but isn't it getting an adaptation from Studio Ghibli? It should be good.

Wow, so for example after the contest and fail, you can unpublish your story from there and republish it here?

That's not true, some japanese stuff won a contest and they translated it into english for them a few years back.

Yes, if you don't get contracted, you can take your story elsewhere. Browsing through the contest entries, it is the usual type of stories once again. I don't envy the judges.

Isn't that different than what their other competitions they host are doing?

Yes but those aren't the contests they host on English Honeyfeed.

I did check, however, and while they didn't publish the story of their 2023 runner-up, they hired them as an author to write a tie-in story to promote their fashion brand.
