You're right about writing more but what can you do when your story doesn't become notice. For example, I got 2 stories(Currently), the 1st one is releasing every Friday while the other is realising everyday.

The one that's realising once a week is being read more that the one that's releasing everyday(it currently has no readers). So I'm thinking I should release it once a week, is that a good call?

Considering your story has certain minimum level of quality you will gain readers just by uploading consistently. Certain genres and tags will get you readers faster, but the core concept remains

this is asked often, and it always boils down to the same basic rules: upload consistently (whatever your schedule, make sure you stick to it), engage with readers that engage with you (comment back being the biggest, and thanking reviewers when you're able to, as reviews are rare), and finally, keep your chapters in the general ballpark of the same length.

People should know that 1, you appreciate them reading and commenting. 2, when you'll upload, and 3, how long your upload will be approximately, so that they can plan a time to read it. My personal rule for the third is "the time it takes for a standard poop". I want my chapters to be long enough that they can sit, do their business, and be done when they're done reading. any longer, you run the risk of losing interest mid chapter, any shorter, and they could drop due to lack of development per chapter (in my experience, so take that with a grain of salt).

I guess I just need to be consistent going forward. Otherwise, I feel like I'm hitting everything you describe.

I'm just curious what other authors do here to drive traffic to their story. I'm having trouble getting many readers, and I was was wondering if there are any easy strategies to get more eyes on my story.
Everyone is saying to upload consistently because you'll get more readers, but you can't rush art. Otherwise, you'll end up with some half-baked isekai xianxia harem nonsense that will test my faith in Humanity. In my opinion, 5 quality followers who give genuine praise and/or criticism is more valuable than 100 bots who just "add and forget."

For me, what works is the forum. Interact with people (like I'm doing now) and put links to your stories in your signature. However, I'd also post on other sites under the same name and PFP. Both will greatly increase your exposure.

My first experience with SH was interesting, to say the least. I basically uploaded all 30 chapters at once (apparently, I shouldn’t have), and the next day, when I logged in, I had accumulated 300 readers. My first thought was: are they bots? Because my story had only 5 views per chapter on Tapas. So yes, I don’t think there are any rules for this at all.

I really wish I knew the answer to that. I've long stopped trying, since it's baffling to me.
I just write and see where the chips fall.

Then again, if we knew the sure for way to do it, then this would look like you tube where everything is now squished into 8 to 12 minute videos.

My thing is I am constantly writing and constantly updating. That's the best I can hope for. I've published my things on two other sites (free hosting) and that's all I truly need. I'm one of these crazy ladies not looking to make any money, I'm in it for the fun so all my novels will always be free to read.

- Be good at what you do.
- Don't block trolls or rude users - in the beginning, they're your best promoters, even if they give you bad votes. Also, they are oblivious of their usefulness, so troll them back without a worry. You can block them much later.
- Be respectful to everyone (even when trolling). Karma could be your greatest friend or your worst enemy.

Payola. Bribe them to read.

Otherwise, hit 20, then 50 chapters, and use popular tags (correctly - NOTHING annoys readers more than incorrect tags). And yes, Smut IS one of the popular tags, as are Gender Bender, Girl's Love and a few dozen others.

Seeing there are many works without cover, how important a cover is really?

The trending section is defined by the bursts of recent activity...

It's a "lot of people checked the novel recently"

It's circumstantial, and could happen regardless the number of readers, followers, rating, or whether the story has cover.
