Is the definition of criticism not "the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a literary or artistic work"?Lastly, you can't critisize art.![]()
People like GL with gay or trans people. But make it BL and they run in terror, or so I've heard.Gay people? IN MY GL???? *gasp* *horrified pearl clutching* *exaggerated fainting* *the crowd screams in terror in the background*
Hell yeah it is. I can't even imagine how many world wars we must've avoided because we were too busy criticizing fictional premises and figuring out our issues in that relatively neutral setting rather than criticizing, y'know, the real people, issues and premises they were based on. Art, the arguments presented through art, and the criticism of art is basically humanitys main defense against ourselves.
And then Covid happened. What do you think started the pandemic?Tape banana, my beloved. Pissing people off since 2019![]()
It is wrong. Is the definition of criticism not "the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a literary or artistic work"?

It wasn't one of my brothers or sisters beneath the vampy mommy goddess??And then Covid happened. What do you think started the pandemic?
Yah but that's also why some people tend to dislike it. It's introducing a premise but then abandoning the premise.
I agree in general. But a man turned into a woman needing only a few chapters to solve that confusion is absolutely fine. This premise is not a significant plot point. An isekai slice of life about cooking and traveling, with a premise where the mc is trapped in an isolated island or something doesn't need to be dwelled too deeply other than "I need to survive" before the promised cooking and traveling (or it's already there).A premise exists so that a story can exist. Using a premise then not using it in the slightest means there was no reason for that premise in the first place
its like making a "Hero must save the world from the demon king" and then suddenly your reading about the love life of a mole girl and a dragon while the premise just never existed
It is your artistic right to make this interpretation. It is wrong.
No.
This site has lots of gender theory ideology, it's impossible to escape online because reality is antithetical to their way of thinking.
Well, you're allowed to think, read and write that ofc. But the rest of us are also allowed to feel burnt out on what feels like not just a bait and switch, but one that's starting to feel old.I agree in general. It is called subversion of expectations.Well, you're allowed to think, read and write that ofc. But the rest of us are also allowed to feel burnt out on what feels like not just a bait and switch, but one that's starting to feel old.
I... don't think I understand? Are you saying that criticizing art isn't criticism? Or like that you shouldn't be able/allowed to criticize art? Or something else?It is wrong.
Lol. No. It's definitely expected at this point. It was subversion of expectation for me the first few times I read gender benders, which was a decade ago.It is called subversion of expectations.
I think the Great SilusGimbel is saying art is not something that can be objectively criticized.I... don't think I understand? Are you saying that criticizing art isn't criticism? Or like that you shouldn't be able/allowed to criticize art? Or something else?
If it is expected it's not a bait and switch then. ?Lol. No. It's definitely expected at this point. It was subversion of expectation for me the first few times I read gender benders, which was a decade ago.
Hell, I'm a little wary of gender benders these days in part BECAUSE I expect this.
People can't criticize art because it can make the artist feel bad and hurt their feelings. We should embrace love and kindness instead.I... don't think I understand? Are you saying that criticizing art isn't criticism? Or like that you shouldn't be able/allowed to criticize art? Or something else?
That's... not how any of this works. If it is expected it's not a bait and switch then. ?![]()
Not because its quality is purely subjective?People can't criticize art because it can make the artist feel bad and hurt their feelings. We should embrace love and kindness instead.
I actually also hate it lol, if that's not already clear from my first post in this thread. I just don't see the need for any depthness in any fictions, at all, even though I would always choose them if forced to pick deep or not.Well, you're allowed to think, read and write that ofc. But the rest of us are also allowed to feel burnt out on what feels like not just a bait and switch, but one that's starting to feel old.
Then take back what you've said about my beautiful pookiebear snugglewuggles sunshinemaker Elden RingPeople can't criticize art because it can make the artist feel bad and hurt their feelings. We should embrace love and kindness instead.
