In the web novel community, the belief that everything is fine because it's fiction is so deeply established that I fear potential criminals are being raised.
Yeah, and I know that almost anything written in fiction could be viewed as such, but some things are just more uncomfortable than others.
The most well-known example is Mushoku Tensei. The author is a pedophile, and he even had to edit a part of the story because the publisher complained.
What is your opinion? Where do you draw the line? Do you think that, in the end, fiction is just fiction?
If there is a warrant or something similar yeah, if not no. However tracing the web traffic of an individual is already fairly common, so that is close enough. Of course if the ideal was made real where no one would have to worry about being tracked, while all malicious individuals were caught the second they attempt to harm someone that would be something different.
The hard drive at most, assuming no illegal content is on it, can build a profile of the criminal after they are caught. Unfortunately we rarely catch abusers without the victims coming forth. Lets say, everyone’s hard drive has become public. This will only temporarily get rid of a few of them before they adapt and find a different way. Unfortunately the best way forward, imo, is educating everyone on abuse and signs of abuse. Having law enforcement more readily believe victims of csa, and providing adequate resources for the victim to get away from the abuser should they be released. Of course that isn’t perfect and perhaps we could refine it abit better, but that is at least a first step forward.
If the world and its governments were less of a shitshow I would, and might still, be partial to the public requesting warrant to search someones home, through a petition being approved by a judge or something. Granted there are quite a few flaws with that such as if the culture was in a paranoid/witch hunt mood, but ?
