What gets me every time is smithing, where the quality of the artifact hinges on the furnace reaching the highest temperature humanely comprehensible.

You can separate the work in two steps: ingot refining and shaping (forging)

For refining, the goal is to get rid of the oxygen (FeO) through incomplete combustion (carbon monoxyde), and removing crass by melting it off (but not hot enough to melt the metal) and beating the shit out of the ore. It's NOT necessary to turn the metal into a soup... and in fact, it makes it worse because all the carbon and oxygen go back into the metal soup.

As for shaping the ingot, a true gigachad smith god would grab an ingot in one hand and squeeze it in a process known as cold forging. If he feels fancy, he can heat it before and then cool it to trap the crystal structure.

Except for getting rid of the oxydized part, you could just rawdog it cold and beat the shit out of your lump of metal to both clean it and shape it lol

Guns. Particularly obvious violations of the rules of safety. I grew up with guns and genuinely have been shooting since I was 4, the rounds were weekend, and the firearms secured to the table. I'm 32, I have 28 years experience.
Cops, cops are only required to have, maybe 6 hours of training with their firearm. I've done principal security, were had to complete 120 hours a month.
Swords.
Anything to do with swords. I do HEMA so I can't enjoy most sword fights in novels anymore :blob_pat_sad:
This person covered it better. But forgot. Shields aren't fucking defensive. You can bludgeon a fucker to death with one.
The IRS, Federal Reserve and the fucking Rothschilds. That family was incidental in founding the Fed, which is a pseudo-independent group, that actually owns the US currency. I wish that was a conspiracy.
Europe- a garbage continent whose only value is its history, though it seems intent on deleting that. but they have free healthcare. that's nice.

I do it sometimes in games that there are lots of wrong opinions on. For example, some people will say an item is broken in LoL or champion when it's just objectively false. Often, the thing they say is broken is actually disgustingly weak. There is a difference between things being annoying to play against versus objectively strong.

Also some writing things that I say it. There have been a few times readers pointed out something that I thought wasn't wrong. I had to give them the well akshually. Because sometimes they missed something. Granted, many times it was me who made the mistake in writing, and I just correct it right then.

Hot take: nothing.
If someone is wrong (and let's be honest, that's everyone), remember the Prime Directive. Getting involved only creates trouble, so just point and laugh and leave it at that.

like a strap-on? that's fine because that's not a dick. futa is a dick, even though it's not on a male.
I think we need to start taking them out behind the wood shed and feeding them to the drop bears.

Let's drop the futa thing? Unless we want to actually get into the politics and fetishizing of transfolk? Not a fun discussion, even for the political football.

I'm well-actually about pacing in fights. Shit's happening fast, but authors have characters doing lengthy yammering during melee. Or just now I saw a protagonist putting a tourniquet on their shoulder. While running away from wolves.

Oh, and japanese webnovels - the wolves always have a claw attack. Wtf?

Oh, and isekai characters inventing soap, and introducing baths. People have been saponifying fats since Ogg scrubbed grease out of a cooking pot using water and cook fire ashes. Baths, same. Ogg, more water, less ashes.

I'm a history/mythology nerd. That doesn't say much as they are extremely broad and deep topics. Even as I say I am one, I have to admit there are uncountable things I know nothing about. But if you happen to say something in my presence I know is objectively incorrect, I may have a hard time keeping my mouth shut.

Oh my god it can be so random because I have the most random facts in my head! This comes from having a husband who is a history major/computer games developer and a step-dad who studied Greek Classics and is Greek.
Then the many many years of reading behind the scenes movies facts on IMDB like a friggin encyclopaedia.

Ever get into the argument of Heracles and Hercules? That's the one that gives the full "Uhm, actually...." from me.
