Should the sites like Scribble Hub use the 5-star rating system?

How about profiling readers by placing them on a latent space according to the ratings they give to different genre and lumping them into groups. Then each book receive multiple ratings weighted according different groups. That way you could have "NTR enjoyers and cucks give this book 4.7 star, but everyone else rate it 1.24" or something
Yes, I advocate for this. That's part of the system I discussed in depth with a friend at one point, and hashed out. I think there are a lot of variables that should be weighted and put weights on their reviews.

It was more of, Tony does not take donations. I never heard or saw anyone doing it or talking about it. In fact, the last time I heard about it was when I talked with Alice in a feature request thread. Someone mentioned they wanted a feature to donate to Tony.
Then I suppose it is impartial.

Another reason for considering the less weightened system, though as I said I doubted it would be possible.

After all, this isn't suggestion thread, it's discussion thread!

Like that one...

Why don't we overcomplicate things into a nine-point scale. Give everything three "qualities" and three ranks in each:
Personal Quality One (Like/Neutral/Dislike) 3/2/1 stars
Emotional Quality Two (Strong emotional reaction/low emotional reaction/opposite of presumably intended emotional reaction) 3/2/1 hankies
Smut Quality Three (Excited/Neutral/Kept picturing dead nuns and puppies whether I wanted to or not (unless you're into that sort of thing)) 3/2/1 Blobs.

Careful, this is trending towards royalroad's system of splitting things up, and it's *triggering* to some people.

I have one question only. Who is the lowest of the low? Re:Zero enjoyers or Overlord enjoyers? Maybe fans of JJK? Who is at the bottom of the barrel? I need to know!!!

I'd actively be interesting in seeing how those sorts of stories would be rated. In a weighted system, obsessive fans who haven't read much else wouldn't have much weight on rating, so they might be lower...

Dammit I didn't ask for a rational answer! I am asking for a fucking box of matches, you understand? I want to trigger SHF users and set their asses on fire.

But imagine the flame war that would happen if these people's favorite stories were suddenly lower rated. Rabid fire.

Honestly though, aside from Steam’s many useless reviews. It handles the situation well with the like and dislike. Though, I suppose a mixed option should be added, for people in between on it.

Something worth considering about a like and dislike system is that it takes longer to converge on a meaningful value, so stories with fewer ratings just have meaningless ratings for longer. This happens with steam games too. It takes longer to gain traction. That means more effort on advertising, though I still think it's probably better than 1-5

I'm going to be serious for a second here and reply to this... reply... take. The reason why Steam handles the situation well is because no one looks at likes and dislikes. The first thing you see is a freaking video, a trailer of the game. Sometimes it's a trailer, sometimes it's straight up gameplay video. There are also screenshots. Comparing Steam to SH doesn't work. You don't have a video that gives a reader almost a full understanding of wether they'll like the novel or not. It doesn't work like that. And synopsis doesn't help either. No one looks at synopses in Steam. People watch videos and look through screenshots.

The reason I suggested the Steam-like system:

One account, one like (or dislike), one opinion.

It doesn't necessarily solve the issue with the unsolicited criticism* but there is no additional weight to it.

People still could say mean things to you on the Internet, but they said mean things aren't ranked because you are "mean with 1star" or "mean with 2star)

One like and one dislike, regardless of the reason, negate each other.

It is easy to understand, and straightforward, for both readers and for the writer, you don't argue what the three stars even mean. Simple binary logic applies.

Necessity to attach reviews to likes or dislikes provides both feedback and the explanation why the rating was given. Necessity to say something hampers (but not negate) bot accounts.

Demands more accounts to be created in order to damage the story, which makes it more likely to be picked up by any anti-measure.

There is no option for the fraud as there is on Steam, as you don't need to pay to read the story.

*) the autocorrect suggested to replace "criticism" with "cretinism" and I am not sure if it was wrong.

This is why I advocate for complicating the system
In that case, I have a new idea.

A plutocratic hellish Star Duel system

Users have a bank of stars 5 out of 5
if they give a novel 1 star they will have 4 out of 5 stars left
and only one star gets regenerated per week
if a user wants to give something 5 stars they will use up all their star stockpile

the best way to give out more stars is to pay a microtransaction to Tony to "top up" your stars
you can also pay to increase your star capacity, so you can stockpile more stars

Another way to get stars is to get another user to give you their stars voluntarily....

OR!

A "Star Duel"
You can challenge another user to a "Star Duel"
in which the winner will bet and get the loser's stars
in a duel using dice and cards.

there is also an option for a
"There could be only one" Highlander-style duel
that you go all in and take over the other person's account.
And if you challenge an author to a "Highlanders Star duel", you get all their novels as well
and you are now forced to write all their novels forever.
