Dragon Age Veilguard is completely insufferable.

Like, all you had to do was stay the hell away from video games and you'd have never lost that base.
Nope, you didn't leave good enough alone.
While Hollyweird has always been Leftist, but it wasn't until around 2014 that they began to go out of their way to ignore half of their audience and start ruining every film, franchise, and television show little by little and now they are shocked that most movies flop. To me, they seemed to really go heavy into attacking comics next starting in 2016....and once film and comics were on life support around 2018-2019, they decided that gaming was the next space. I noticed some small nonsense here and there before 2020, but it wasn't until either during, or right after the Plandemic that they really started throwing significant amounts of resources at ruining games. So late 2020? Early 2021.

I felt like games were left leaning starting around 2012, but just became more and more as time went on. Overwatch for example, the first one was very left leaning, but the difference was that in 2012 - 2016 there was still a lot of talented writing at those companies that could work around it.

Now though... after 2017, it seems like very few great games are made nowadays since studios have been hiring based on DEI instead of talent.

Like, a talented person writing a woke story is still better than a woke person writing a woke story. Actually, I'm pretty sure I could write a woke story too even if I didn't believe in it.

Would be hard for me. I actually know what a woman is. Also the heroes wouldn't all be non-whites and all of the villains wouldn't be just white men. Also, its possible some non-whites might die at some point in the plot, or actually suffer something beyond shallow/superficial struggles. Those tend to be hard disqualifiers.

I mean, I could write a good and complicated white villain, and a good complicated non-white protagonist. It would tick all the boxes and still be somewhat entertaining compared to the garbage talentless crap that keeps coming out.

I believe you. I genuinely do. I imagine it's not even difficult, or at least NOWHERE NEAR as expensive as it seems to be. How would you like to be paid several millions bucks to write trash? Oh! And you get to pretend to be the victim when Twitter says naughty words to you. I think you also get a few points added to your Victimization Card. I think it's around 300 points that you get a free pizza party? A thousand and you get a month of paid vacation time?

All the other stuff aside, the writing is just plain bad. I don't know why they didn't hire better writers, it's not rocket science.

All the "woke" crap doesn't matter. Look at BG3, biggest fucking hit in decades. You can fuck a LITERAL bear, you can slap a dick on yourself (in more ways than one), you can romance whoever you want. Didn't matter at all. Divinity Original Sin 2, super banger of an RPG, no one cared about the ability to romance same-sex. Even in the DA series, you had the scene with Iron Bull talking about Krem (who's trans), no one cared because it wasn't written by someone who just chugged a condom filled with sand and the way it was presented was lore-friendly.

It's purely BioWare shooting themselves in the foot by hiring garbage. Insane.

That's the purpose of live service. You could remove or rewrite content at your leisure and the user has to defence against it, because there aren't any local copies whatsoever. This could be countered by simply pirating the content, but that's criminalized.

Also, keep in mind, they don't think like this.

When they say "Soon you will have no game to play" doesn't mean "no computer games". It means "You will have no platform for your expression so we could control what you think and feel."

CEO of those companies, dictating those policies, don't even know what product they are producing. Hell, they are so disconnected from it they don't even understand the market economy and think in politician concepts of control and opposition. They don't even understand words like "customer". That's why the gaming companies attack gamers all the time. They use "gamers" like "political opposition".

There are probably a few people who would enjoy the new Dragon Age, but even as they play the game, they are not the gamers.

Person who plays a game is a gamer? It isn't, not today. We live in an era when words don't mean things anymore.
The thing is, you are ignoring large chunk of the market.
Unless they can take control of or crush all of the independent studios, the threat remains hollow.

Sure, they may not always be the best quality, and can definitely be hit-and-miss in terms of being fun, but there will always be games to play that they don't control. There just won't be as many.

As for EA, they have been dead to me ever since they bought out PopCap, only to demolish all but one IP (Plants vs. Zombies).

(Plants vs. Zombies).
I played the hell out of the first one in multiplayer for about a year and a half. Either it had a large player-base, or a dedicated one because I never had to wait long for a match the entire year and a half I played. Honestly couldn't get into Plants vs. Zombies 2 though. Not sure why. They played similar, but something was lost in transition. No idea what.

Anyone wants to combine our mediocre storytelling efforts to create the next RPG of the decade? I mean now is the best time to create story-centric RPGs, people still remember BG3, but everything else released is either a slob, or an established franchise, or a remake... The bar for new entries is at an all-time low :ROFLMAO: ?:poop::blobspearpeek:

The small studios don't have money, resources or experience to release the big titles to compete with the AAA releases.

They could get experienced people, many developers which created the popular titles were forced out of their jobs, but won't get the funding.

They couldn't release on the Playstation or XBOX without the clearance of the large corporation, their distribution on PC is reliant on companies like Steam or EPIC games. All marketing goes through the large corporation as Youtube / Google ....

This is the reason why the large corporation is confident in their control of the market.

Control doesn't always meen profits.

Lol, I felt like you should have said "release the big titties" instead of "titles" as you wrote. Would have been funnier.

Wasn't Control profitable?
It depends on whether people 'need' what you're making.
Control over food? Profit.
Control over transportation? Profit.
control over a past time people don't need to survive? Can be unprofitable.

Control over the media? Not always profitable.
