Pretty sure those two are from Mesopotamian myth, definitely not Hindu lol.

But there are a ton of Hindu myths that have influenced modern day Christian ones and even a lot of fantasy, but nobody ever realizes it
Tiamat is Mesopotamian. Bahamut is Hindu.

Hmm.... just did a bit of my own checking and found this.

So, in other words, I was confusing Bahamut with Akūpāra, the world turtle of Hindu mythology.

That said, looking over Bahamut's Wiki entry (which cuts down on the colorful poetic language in favor of just the base facts, short and concise), and seeing he's actually from Islam, it looks like the Akūpāra-Bahamut connection is actually just about exactly the same as Job's Tiamat-Leviathan connection. (Which, I guess, adds fuel to the fire for promoting the Bahamut is a Leviathan assertion.)

I actually heard Bahamut was Hindu in origin from a teacher I had in highschool. By this research, it looks like he was just a bit off, so a fact check was indeed in order.

That's pretty cool, it makes sense that Hindu mythology would have had a lot of influence on the cultures of the surrounding region. Thanks for sharing your findings with me :blob_cookie:

This isn’t a thread to talk about religion, I’m only interested in which Christian inspired writing/story cliche is the most interesting/fun to read about.

If I missed anything comment it below.
Please go with Leviathan I guess.

For me, the name is butchered and misused so much that when it is in the poll, I had to do a double take.

Apparently from a quick wiki, it is a giant beast that eats sinners.

So I would like to see if you can make something out of it.

Then comes Lilith because I like the concept of her getting yeeted from Adam all because she want to be the rider not the riddened and God had to make a docile woman out of the man's ribs.

Dante's Inferno had been done to hell.

The Seven Sins as well, Meliodas is a hentai freak.

Four Horsemen are cool, until a certain KR novel made me hate the concept. Conquest thy name is not.

72 Demons... once again the KR fucked that one for me. Obligatory Iron Blooded Orphan reference and OpPaimon joke.
Darksiders.
Why is Strife so heavily leaning on the dominatrix theme?

Sorry it is Fury.

Strife is apparently their Conquest. Gunslinger.

Also, no Famine?
Those are action games, and the first one was made way back. They were not able to think of a way to incorporate Famine-themed character into an action game. However they still fit the theme since they bring the apocalypse to Earth.

Well, all I remember about War is that child me thought he was cool with skull motifs all over his armored hood. Death straddled the floor like a male stripper and Fury is a dominatrix.

He still looks cool to me!

I like seeing the different depictions and references to 'The Valley of Hinnom', I think I remember it being mentioned in the 'Reincarnated As A Slime' light novel and I wrote a short poem about it that goes:

For we ourselves
are the false God
of the Valley of Slaughter.

I would say the Judas archetype though now I think about not many books like that out there as its mostly a tragedy. But there are some were they switch from the Judas archetype into the Peter archetype. From despair to redemption. Something like that is very hard to pull off, but when it's done well it's as though God is speaking through the writing at you sometimes.
