As I try to capture an experience that is truly magical and new to a main character, and as I watch "Oshi no Ko" over and over, I'm reminded of how genuinely world-shaking it felt to watch a musical for the first time in person.

It may have been a high school theater version, and I certainly had zero ability to discern any flaws in the students' acting, but it was a core moment for me that I'll remember always. The emotions felt fresh and new, and I laughed and cried and gasped. The music was great, the singing was great, the dancing was great.

It was special.

(*cue JJK theme song* "~You are my special~":blob_joy:)

Even though people commonly make fun of high school plays, and point out any and all amateurish moments, it is special to me. While many media may not be perfect, it's important to remember that they were magical experiences to others, and that's what's important.

What about you guys?

Hmm - back then I usually was helping build sets, or (once) was an actor on the stage (not in a musical though) and we tried not to be amateurish, even though we WERE amateurs... :D Actually our school and our local community players' group were both very good and very encouraging of young actors, set builders, and other back stage help (not of directors though; the adults kept THAT job for themselves).

Probably closest for me was seeing actual (stage) magic up close and being taught how to do it (though I only remember about 1/5th of what I knew back then).

I mean, in my heart of hearts, I feel like everyone in the play were amazing geniuses. I loved it that much!

In general I don't understand any live event. Be it concert, watching game, or even going to the cinema.

I used to participate in every dance during school programs, because it is what cool guys do and it allowed us to cut class in its name.

I have a lot of fond memories from that time

With me falling of the stage while during a stunt dance. There was this time when Another dude took my pair accidentally in a group dance, it ended up comical as both me and dude ganged up on my patner with dance moves while his original partner was staring at us awkardly.

Us winning the first place for dance competition thrice in a row

I wouldn't say it was too special but it was heck of a fun times,

Wait really ? Isn't it better to experience everything first hand live no? Surrounded With people who share the same passion you have for thing like a sport or a team or something.

Lol! If I didn't homeschool, I'd probably do that too.

I like museums, I like zoos, certain galleries I think are good. Never been to planetarium so I can't comment on that. When it comes to concerts, I would rather listen to a song properly recorded and polished in a studio. I don't care about singing along, most times I don't even remember the lyrics. I don't care about musicians themselves. I don't care about musician playing with crowd. It doesn't interest me one bit.

Maybe I would like attending a really cool CS tournament, but there is not a single friend who shares my passion for pro CS, and I am introverted. It is also impossible for me to attend a really cool CS tournament since cool ones are abroad and it is too expensive. Lastly, if I had a choice, I would rather gather with friends at home and watch the stream. Movies in cinema are too loud for me. What else did I forget?

I remember the plays my brother used to be in. Always an extra, only ever had one speaking line I think, but it was fun to see him

Having been to a few concerts, it really varies with the artist; some are much better live (Have been to a few shows with "Yes" - or rather some core members of Yes, sometimes performing AS Yes, other times as solo artists and other times as "AWR" - Anderson/Wakeman/Rabin, and they are just a blast live, even some of the songs that you would think would never work live do), others really only sound good in the studio (remember a music critic actually expressing SHOCK when The Moody Blues did a good live concert without a full orchestra performing with them because they had a reputation, for their first 20 or so years, of being awful live but one of the best studio bands ever), and a very rare few sound the same both ways (my wife claims U2 does, for example; as she is a fan of their music and I am generally not, I will take her word for it).

Not sure what a CS tournament is but I can say that I have greatly enjoyed game conventions with and without "tournament" events.

As for movies... now that home cinema technology is good enough, there are very, very few that I would rather see in theaters (most of those are the "effects heavy epics" like superhero films, or high-end fantasy or science fiction), as at home I can pause, rewind, have subtitles on without needing a special device, etc.

I've been to a tournament. It was cool at first, when it still didn't register in my mind. A couple days later I understood I didn't like it. There is no 'fond memories' or stuff like that about it. I certainly didn't hate it, but it was mehbleh. I would rather watch it from home.

That's what I was talking about. You know all those facts about your favorite musicians, and you are a much bigger fan than I am. I like music, I like all kinds of music, I can say I am a fan of certain bands, but I don't even know names of people in those bands.

Well, i recently was on the end of (school-)year mass and there was this 8th grade girl who was led to the front and started to sing "a million dreams". Without any tools for assistance or anything. Just pure singing skills. I got gosumps. Her voice was absolutely brilliant. In my opinion it was even better than the original. The sad thing is that no one filmed or recorded it. (Safekeeping the data of students is taken quite seriously where i come from).
It affected me more than any musical or concert i was on. I think the effect was only amplified because the topic of the mass already laid the seed for the emotions this song wants to convey.

It was the only mass i ever enjoyed. 10/10 can recommend. But I will never be able to hear it again.

Here is the link to the original. Her voice was quite close to the first singer.

Being in labor and feeling the pain as a glow in the shape of a crescent moon . . . until those jerks raised my Pitocin dose too high.
*doesn’t recognize medication*
*looks up Pitocin*
A synthetic oxytocin? At first I thought “isn’t Oxytocin the feel-good chemical?” But I looked further and it turns out Pitocin is normally used for inducing contractions. Ay yai yai, the multiple effects each and every hormone has are so freakin’ varied!

But it looks like it can cause a lot of complications too. Hope that didn’t leave you with lasting damage! Scary…

I put on performances in my bathroom. Or when I'm acting out my writing out scenes in my head.

Does that count?

I think that’s something where you are attempting to build up to making a magical experience for someone else rather than one you have experienced something else.

I’m not necessarily asking for acting in particular. That’s just how this thread has turned out. It can be about going to an amusement park for the first time or receiving and reading a book that had you shook with magic. Or playing with friends at at a board game that forged the most special, deepest of bonds. Any core moment that was just magical works.
