Title. I saw a lot of discussion about other topics, but I don't think I've seen this question asked yet. What is your preferred tone for a series? Something lighthearted, or something darker?

i prefer lighter stuff (fluff, cuteness and generally feel good) but i'm open to darker stuff... as long as it's not melodrama, masochistic torture porn or other such misery content.

dark comedies and the like (grimdark world or something but the characters are full of dark humor or subvert the tone) are a favorite... when i can find a good one.

No preference on the tone of the story. Only really mostly in the attitude of the mc. Otherwise, pretty much free clicks

Depends on the day honestly. Sometimes I want to watch Haikyuu, sometimes I want to watch Made in Abyss, same applies to what I read.

I dislike tragedies and hate bad written tragedies, so it's lighter stuff and depending on mood darker

I love warm-hearted, cozy, Christmas vibe, but I also love a dark, gothic vibe. Both of them actually work very well together when you contrast a dark and harsh setting with the warmth of human bond and love. It evokes a strong emotion in me.
Too edgeh.

Me cant comprehent.

I like both, but I think serious/dark are harder to write, so it’s harder to find good ones.

Idk. But, I like fluffy stuffs. At the same time, I like tragedy (I hate to admit it). I enjoy both. The only novel that I repeated was a tragedy and it had a sad ending. Dunno why I like that.

A light in the endless abyss, a tiny speck of hope in the void of despair. Arknights is the best example of this, in a miserable world what keeps the people going another day is the smile of others.
On the other side, you have Fgo's Lostbelts, you are sentencing entire civilizations to destruction for your own world. The people there was deemed unnecessary by the World itself, but in the end, they are still people.

I like light-themed stories that would suddenly turn dark, just like Madoka Magica, and Honkai Star Rail's Penacony Arc

Balanced.

Don't go too dark and edgy on me, coz I can't take that stuff. Real life and experiences already fucked me up, so last thing I want for my entertainment is to remind me of those.

And too much comedy without character progress won't work either. I like rom-coms, but if it will take 200+ chapters for something to happen, count me out. A different opinion can be said with light-hearted SoL stuff; there are times I'd skip those, and days where I appreciate reading it.

RL is depressing enough, so I stay away from dark and gloomy stuff just so I don't get worse depression.
