I think this rules out basically the entire of Scribblehub

Probably why I can't find an actual book to read here.

Quite a few things:

• Significant swearing. I will tolerate occasional expletives, but there is a limit, and it is low.
• Characters that are 1-dimensional and only there to be collected by the main character. This is really only okay for mob enemies.
• Girl's Love, Boy's Love, Smut.
• Using the story to try to force a political ideology. You can see it coming a long way off, and it kills the story without exception.
• Authors that have a history of never finishing stories past 10 chapters.

All of this, but wait, there's more:

• Genderbender or any form of transition stuff.
• Any religious propaganda pushing unless it's a purely fictional religion that's getting utilized for plot purposes and not to try and brainwash people.
• Bad grammar or so many inconsistencies in the writing that my brain gets angry.
• Plot armor. When characters are meant to die or be injured or fail, but the Author is a coward and doesn't let it happen or crafts up some excuse to get the character out of it.
• Systems that aren't properly developed, thought out, balanced, and/or kept in check and the story is easy to poke holes at or just falls apart.
• Cultivation novels that sprout around Eastern supremacy (because they know F-22 will eat the J-20).
• "Comedic Relief" characters. If your cast doesn't have a purpose to exist beyond one thing, don't write the character. In reality, even the clowns of our society have character development. Sometimes, they've got more development than the normal/average person. No normal person makes a joke about a Krispy Kreme donut when you're getting shot at and a piece of concrete falls down in the odd;y perfect shape of a donut. "Ey that reminds me of this one time..."
• When the MC is a pussy or dense for no apparent reason. I may be an idiot with two brain cells arguing over why the color red is red, but when a woman takes her top off, I know it's go time.

Exposition

there's a right way to do exposition, and there's a wrong way to do exposition. most people choose the wrong way.

things that cause dislike:

• antihero protag/villainous lead gets therapy. this is rarely handled well.
• not separating your paragraphs
• purple prose (guilty, simplifying is hard)
• really short chapters of like, five hundred words
• people who write better than us
• smut
• reincarnate as an inhuman but oh no, they're a baby and now you get twenty chapters of the MC being fawned over and or abused.
• not all systems are written equal. most are below average.

I hate the 'Mind Control' aspect in a story - especially where it is used against MC.
... mostly because years ago I read a work where, in the middle of the story, the author decided to brainwash the previous MC and give a side character the role. I got traumatised by that shitty story.
But also because I feel it is a lazy way to introduce drama and conflict into a group where there had been none before.

I dislike it when characters, especially the main character, give long exposition speeches to characters they just met. Usually it's something about their tragic backstory or the like. Whenever I start a new story and that happens in the first few chapters, I usually end up dropping it.

I... Don't remember. It was hosted on the same site that translated Arifureta as it came out years ago.
It was a comedic Chinese story about an assassin who travelled to another world. There, he was enrolled is an academy, where one of the courses had dragon raiders in it... I think. It's been a while.
But yeah. Around 80 chapters in, the author brainwashed the MC, making him another henchman for the Villain.
Then the PoV was switched to a side character. I thought the side character would save the MC, but no, 40 chapters of scrolling and nothing.
It was so jarring.

I was interested because I want to use this for my story. But having read what exactly happened, it sounds ass. And yes, China. of course it's them. They love brainwash

I can’t with 1POV and the former is vaguely every run off the mill xianxia/action webtoon issue while the latter is an issue with author’s weak characterization skills.

Get hooked by the premise, get disappointed by the writing.

Perhaps. There are also times when people think different from reality. Like a kind person thinking they are scum or vise versa. But, I think you are referring more to how the world sees the character. Everyone thinks they are kind for some reason, yet all they do is murder and steal.
