So I have a bit of bad news for the higher level players~

I've talked for a while about how its supposed to be harder to level up the higher level you get.

However, so far, most quests have been awarding ~20% of the EXP necessary to level up, which means the difficulty to level up is roughly linear. In is in contrast to most games, where the level up difficulty is roughly exponential.

I've reworked the EXP gain and the rough plan is like this:
  • Levels 1-5: Quests give 20% EXP (sometimes even 25% EXP)
  • Levels 1-6: Ramp down to max 20% EXP
  • Levels 7-10: Ram down to max 15% EXP
  • Rank D: Max 15% EXP
  • Rank C: Max 10% EXP
  • Rank B: Max 5% EXP
  • Rank A: lol

The meaning of this is that essentially nobody should be getting to Rank S, and you shouldn't be casually planning on your characters getting to Rank S. Realistically, most characters should get to Rank C before realizing that leveling up to the next rank is prohibitively difficult.

That said, this is really only the guideline for guild quests.

I'm increasingly beginning to think that the higher the level you get, the more of your EXP should come from doing plotlines in custom quests. You'll need to find (or make) those quests yourselves.

In either case, I added quest codes to Spire Reef and Gelderholm -- and also EXP gain was nerfed (particularly Level 7+).

We've discussed this many times, personally I feel that 10 G at level one is plenty given the cost of food. There are many ways to find areas to make savings.

This is a philosophical point, but I don't believe that adventurers should be living a cozy life.

The reward is placed at a benchmark where it is barely livable but also quite uncomfortable.

Additionally, the Guild has a reputation for underpaying adventurers, so I intend to stand by that.
can't it be multiplied by 7/6, for early levels? a saving of 1 day every six days should be reasonable enough. It just didn't allow the player to take more failure chance, to be honest (writing a quest failure is honestly costly that I am afraid to do so).

Ahh~ my planned scenario for rank S just popped like a bubble! Just like that~

Sad:blob_teary:.... So much for slowly inducing a pope towards madness plan & creating chaos to drag down gods~ :blobrofl:

........ Joke okey joke! Chill!!... I'm not that evil!!

I mean, frankly money is an extremely flexible thing in this game.

The cost of living isn't "strictly" 10G / day... rather that is a loose guideline.

If you decided to eat bread every single day and sleep on the streets, then your cost of living is 1G per day.

If you decided to eat bread every day and sleep in the taverns, then your cost of living is 6 G per day.

You can pick and choose how this adds up. In either case, there is definitely room for your character to save up.

You can have your character meet a nice NPC who lets them sleep in their house... you have so much narrative power as the author.

How do people tell the time? is it by listening to the bell, or do they have a clock?
I'd say either position of the sun or temple bells. Probably both.
@AliceShiki are you currently doing yr rank up exam?
Technically yes, though I just logged in now and am catching up to a few threads before going back to it~
@Generic.Archdemon Sorry but I'll have to move the Merchant Guild quest back a bit because I had an idea to spice things up, but Luna would have to be lvl 10 and passed the D-ranked exam first. It won't be long because the outline had already been planned, and I only needed to make reports and a few Freestyle posts.
*looks forward to it*
Just let me reee in peace at my annoyance! I know @AliceShiki and @Bochi reeee at me!
*looks angrily at skavens' existence*
... I am too out of touch with popular culture to know what reee is... :blob_teary:
*pat pat pat*

Tbh, I have no idea what that weird frog thingy is, but I saw people use it enough in discord to have a grasp of the meaning.
Also, logically you have to complete every quest in around 1 day-ish, inferring from the quest reward that only give you enough money to subsist for one day without any savings.

This is unsubtle request to raise the money reward @ohko.
Get some levels and increase your monetary gains! \(^^)/

Or appraise some quests to make up for your small amount of money!

... Or be dirty poor like Nene currently is! XD
I'm just saying... while that's doable (my character is modeled after a cat and I took ration and hunting quest after all. but for others?) it made a lot of quest have that one day time limitation. It's like you can't even be late or fail if you don't have a reserve money.
Well, most people do start with a small reserve, so you can have some money available for failures and stuff...

Deciding to start with 0 coins also means you need to deal with lack of money early on IMO~
Don't worry, custom quests for cash are a thing after all.

*Shamelessly points to Shiori's requests*
*nod nod nod*
*shamelessly points to Slime Horde quests too*

*shakes pompoms* Always happy to see the grind increased~ *giggles*

Everyone should be poor and level slowly! \(^^)/
The best part of this post is still--

You can hear it.
"You think you ever gonna rank up after Rank A? You fool!"

Find ways to avoid losing money! Like eating rations and sleeping on roofs!

OOC: Hey man, sorry I didn't realize you were rping with me?. Kind past this point now, so just treat it as you apologizing and walking off.
Don't worry, anyway that was like 15 free EXP

If the post in freestyle RP is more than 100 words you get 15 EXP (read the first post)

Oh I didn't catch that. Well that certainly incentives long rp quest and moments. Thanks for the info

I assumed we have cocks that wake us up. If not maybe it's our internal alarm clock or a magical alarm? I like the bell idea a bit, but it'd be a nuisance for some.
'-'
I really hope you're meaning cockerels and not something else...

you're not the only one... and I'm only 20 T_T

I thought you were older...

Save some for Vysic :blob_catflip:. He hungers for Witch blood

Is Vysic planning on becoming a vampire, or something?

*.*) Can you take quests you make?
Yes.
I've already done two of my own custom quests.

Hejlikka!
\o/

Also, once Julrik's champion quest is done, Hejlikka will have another spare room for anyone to use.
|.o)
More than one person can sleep in it, since it's a master bedroom with a double bed in it.

"I think Nene will be fine, she has a kickass Sarkaz with her. If things go dicey, the big guy probably could bust out some moves and bust some heads, ha! Remind me of Miss Salt Dragon."
Oi! He is not a living plot armor! >.<

Last case was special, the boatman tried to steal his food! Nobody steals a demon's food! :blob_hmph:

Food expiring OTOH happens, if it happens, it happened~
I'm poor too...

All the money and possession that I possess

*wants to huggle Mei*
don't worry, you are not the first person to mistake my age)
Well, it shows that you come off as mature and level-headed then.

I don't know if I've asked this one before but...

...could you explain what that means, please?
