Overfamiliarity with one's own work is the bane of every authors. Try to learn how to appreciate what you wrote in silence (not literal silence but in the absence of emotions) and move on.

Okay, serious answer, if you have the ending it's actually a major plus, since now you only need to connect the beginning and the end. If you simply thought of what will happen next and lost motivation, then you are lazy. Go write. Or don't, less competition for me.

motivation to write a novel
Ask yourself, why are you writing a novel at all? Any novel? Why are you doing this?

If knowing the spoiler stops you from being motivated, it sounds like you have achieved your goal by 'knowing the spoiler'.

It's perfectly reasonable to stop and move on. You have no obligation to do anything else.

Because since you are the author, you know everything will happen, how that happen, and all the lore and small details about it.
that still shouldn't be a spoiler though lol

You sit down and write. That's the actual hard part of writing. Coming up with the story is the fun easy one.

Or you become a pantser/gardener and write from moment to moment until you reach a logical ending.

Or take a third option and surprise yourself by finding a unique solution. This is art, after all.

it's easy to visualize all the awesome stuff happening, it's another thing to actually try n communicate what you envision to someone else

And this is the first major hurtle to reaching that next level of being an author.

Every author should strive to achieve a story where reading it without knowing the ending is one experience, then reading it knowing the ending is an entirely DIFFERENT experience.

Knowing the spoiler should not ruin the story, but CHANGE the story, giving you a new insight and experience.

For example, I have a story where you think X is the good guy and everything he does is Lawful Stupid. But when you get to the end, you realize everything he did was secretly brilliant. NOW when you go back and reread, you realize how he was being self sacrificing and that every annoying thing he did that pissed you off was noble.

The reason to do this is two fold.

One, it makes the reader want to REREAD your story. Rereading gives you more views.
two, it makes your story immune to being spoiled. True, if someone knows the ending, they can't enjoy the Non-spoiled read thru, but they can still enjoy the story once.

Here is the REAL question you should be asking:

HAVE I WRITTEN A STORY I ENJOY RE-READING?

When was the last time you reread your own story, JUST TO ENJOY IT?

If you write a story you don't like to read, then why would anyone else like it?

When I did ghost writing, I will admit, I wrote many a story I have forgotten and will NEVER re-read. In fact, I make a point of deleting any story I sold, just so I NEVER reuse it, knowingly. I was getting paid. I made my money. I moved on.

Since I started writing because I like to write, I find myself, on the many, many, many long stretched at my job where I am just sitting around, waiting for something horrible to happen, I call up my stories on my cell phone and just... read. I make a note to myself, which chapters I go to the most, so I know what I should write more of.

HKN, I like chapter 20, but I also like the "Going Home" arc. I like FTS Book 2 much more than book one, but the scene where Toshi fights off three bullies to protect Ruri, I reread that one too.

If you cannot reread your own story to enjoy it, THAT is your problem.

PRO TIP: Always reread your own stories in the editor. You will ALWAYS find something, some small error, and you will want to correct it. Just read in the editor and Deal with it.

I love this sentence(s) i once saw :

[The book that authors hate the most to read, is their own books. Because they know all the plot, twists, events, endings in advance. And even know all the thoughts behind the creation of the plot (bc its themselves)]
