I feel like it would be too restricting and take some of the freeform nature of the game.

Having the option is always welcome though~

Why is this within a table?

And a nekomancer would be cute~

The only real way to give gold worth is to either have it exchangable to something of worth (simple art? Get Tony to Tease Parth? Get someone to wrote a story against it? etc) somehow make it a collectible like shiny internet points/collectible art or make a working economy using it. The simplest version of one would be a system which encourages trade between players and buying/selling vs npc or justabot-like bots.

The collectible thing can be super limited fancy items but those are not exactly implementable in a forum text rpg, now is it?

Other options are making something absolutely canon *cough* Nekomancers *cough*

You can always build an orphanage and spend your money for the poor children.
That would probably be more expensive than a temple, and would probably require more money to be spent maintaining it as well.

It's more likely for Nene to get a temple first, and then add some space for orphaned children to work as apprentices in it.

That said, getting enough money to build a temple is unrealistic in the timeframe of the forum game I'd say, so I don't think either will happen~

Well, I managed two different versions of AG, and all I can say is... Making money meaningful is hard. Even with shops, trade among players and what not.

I disagree with the first part. People just need to be willing to play with it to make it worthy. But it's very easy to make money worthless by a method like inflation or really easy ways to gather large amounts of money. The second point is the main reason I don't want dump money system. If you incentivize dumping money, people will ask for more easy ways to make money. If people get an easy way to get money, the people that don't want to spend the money anyway will get even more money. Whenever he will spend that large amount of money, it will wreck the economy no matter what. If you want to target that specific kind of player, it will hurt more everyone else overall.

I'm planning to make a market price chart after we finish deciding how to work with the currency. The market price is useful if you want to buy something from the npc and it will help most people decide on the price. My idea for encouraging trade between players is if you want to sell to the npc, you will only get 10/20% of the market value. Other than encouraging trading between players, this should also stop anyway to exploit the free nature of the RP to make a ridiculous amount of goods to sell.

The prices in the market price chart aren't fixed. We can make some in-game events to happen that raise or reduce the price. Like there is an abundance of orange this year so the orange's price is as cheap as nearly free or an invasion of insects monsters ruined the vegetables so the vegetables' price skyrocketed.

Aye, I also randomly consume money as things happen~

Like I remove 1G from my inventory with each passing day. And when a quest lasts a specific amount of time (Say, 1 week), I either find a justification to why I'm not spending money during that time, or I also deduct money equivalent to the time spent out from my inventory~

... Which makes Nene gather money really slowly! xD
