Crossover fanfics vs Multiverse hopping fanfics

To be fair, that story you posted is the exception to the rule. Literally the greatest HP fanfiction to grace the internet, way better than HPMOR, don't @ me.

Also, to answer OP's question, I feel like with crossovers, the author has the opportunity to properly match the themes of each universe together beyond characters, events, etc. This applies to general fanfictions as well, where an author who truly understands what the original story is about can add to it and work with it, rather than doing whatever OP harem wish-fulfillment trash that's so common in them.

With these multiverse stories, I feel like there's not going to be enough of an opportunity to properly explore each world/story and give it the justice it deserves. Like, it's literally the author going "I like these stories, I'm going to add them ALL into my fanfiction!"

Both are trash (In my opinion), together with fan fictions that the author put a system (unfortunately, 97% of the fan fictions out there).

Because sometimes, IDGAF is an answer in itself of an opinion. I personally would read both styles, but I do not have a preference, so IDGAF as I have no preference to either. People like to give their opinions, including me.
In my not so important to anyone else but me opinion, there should have been an IDGAF or a no preference (if you wanted something politer) as part of the opinion poll.

You know, I did not think of that as an option when I posted the poll. I wanted to observe the responses from users that read fanfics. It is a question of preference after all, so I figured I had presented enough options for a choice that are present in the poll.

It is the gold standard. A story that should be studied by any would be fan fiction writer.

There are plenty of fanfics I've liked and there are plenty of crossovers I've liked as well... But I don't recall ever reading anything that combines more than two franchises...

Maybe there could be some that are good, and since I've never read any, I recognize that I am rejecting em kind of baselessly... and yet, whenever I see some story listing more than two franchises, any interest I might have had about reading it just kind of disappears right there, baseless though it might be... so... I doubt I am going to read any in the future either...
