And here I have been using that word since I was kid. Saying certain people live in the "Boonies" (meaning rural). Or saying "he out in the 'docks'" (meaning boondocks).

I think it's one of the few words--if not the only word--that came from Tagalog to English, and not the other way around.

yeah i did hear something about that. But I'm not sure of the exact details, so all i can say is that definitions change and evolve with the times and aren't even the same across all regions. Hence, i ain't really gonna hold it against them
