If they aren't on a VPN then ya. The great firewall scans the text and image meta data of any foreign site pages before allowing a connection. If it detects a blacklisted term or data point, the page won't load and the citizen will lose some social credit. If they repeatedly try and load the page, they might get some visitors kicking down their door.


It would also stop them from uploading to any site hosted in China without manually going in and cutting it out. Since the majority of their process is usually automated that would result in it skipping the story with that text in.

In the best-case scenario, the CCP has shut down entire websites for having references to Free Taiwan / Illegally Occupied Mainland Taiwan / Tiananmen Square.

Just wondering. If you throw a bunch of lines that allow foreign plagiarists to publish work that directly and indirectly shame bashing their leaders, own countries, their people, and air out all the dirty stuffs?

Will that stop them? Like very extreme and uncomfortable matters of pain associated with violence such as torture related to or involving their own kinsmen as main characters or potential family relatives?

nope. it'd probably annoy your current, and future, readers more. just accept it and move on. you can try leaving a note at the end of the chapter if that makes you feel any better - the bots don't discriminate on what they scrape.

As far as preventing pirates from stealing your story, you don't. That's going to happen at some point no matter what you do. My story has an illicit Russian and Chinese translation that I'm aware of. I consider it a sign that I've passed a certain point with my community.

Please DM me the sites where you found your stories. I would like to see if mine are there as well.
