Am I crazy for thinking that if there was one thing every writer could agree was objectively bad, having a plot that doesn't make sense would be it?

You are arguing with someone so stupid that he thinks that Gandalf not being written like a VRMMO/LitRPG character is a plot hole. Badger, don't waste your time on him or her. BTW, The Illiad had no plot holes when the story was first made, but with 3,000 years of oral tradition the details of the story changed over time and Homer wrote it down as best he could, it was endlessly endlessly copied, translated, and reinterpreted before we ended up with the weird version we have today.
