I see.Usually somewhere between 700-1K words. When you post this regularly.
OkayWriting speed is dependent on the mood.
That's really impressiveOn a good day I type down 50 Pages in a few hours,
Ahon a bad one I end up with a blank page.
(That is of course not counting in the time I need to make it readable.)
I seeDo I need to feel bad about my 5k words a week? I don't manage to do much more (not including editing).
There, there. And over Christmas and New Year I even took two weeks break from writing!![]()
NiceIt depends on the content of the story. I can type fast when I'm just writing light scenes like everyday activities.
Oh.However, my hands become heavy when I'm writing dark content. I might also stop typing and occasionally stare at the ceiling when typing an anti-cliché fight scene. Or my fingers might tremble when I'm typing an emotional scene (like death, separation, etc). So the typing speed adjusts to the weight of the story.
That's good.In general, 1500 - 2000 words per chapter (a day) is the average amount. Exceeding the average? My mind becomes heavy... creative fatigue can only be redeemed by taking a break and stopping thinking about the story.
That's still good.Around 1k words per day. I was faster in the past, like 1k/hour with 2-4 hours consistency per day. Technically, I can still do 1k/hour pace easily, but I guess it has become an habit because of works and other things, so I usually tap out before I reach 2k words.
Proofreading is certainly important. My current average is between 1200 and 1500, though it sometimes reaches the low 2ks depending on the context of the chapter. Also, whenever I finish about 10 chapters, I gather them for proofreading, grammar, and other touch-ups. Works better than my old method of doing these as I write.
Nice.I am happy with it. Feels much more rewarding than my old writing style of putting 30 to 50k words in a week, burning out, then not touching the project for months.
Good luck.My mood is a big dictator of that.
on a normal day, like 1.5k words, but when inspiration comes in, like 5 to 6k words, which can be divided into three chapters.
except that I've been battling writer's block for almost four months now, a couldn't write a single word for weeks, sometimes I only write half a chapter in a month.
it's getting better now though
Average speed (on a good day): anywhere from 2500 - 3000 words per sprint / session [2-3 hours, sometimes more if I push myself]I have seen a lot of people publishing new chapters every day. What's your writing speed (word per day or word per minute)? And how big are those chapters?
NiceMy writing speed?
When I was out of work: Very Good.
When I was in the hospital? Great.
When I was working one Job: Good.
Working two jobs: Bad.
That's nice.Over the three years I've been writing, I work out my average to be approximately 62000/(3*365) = 55 words per day.
On a really good day I can get about 600 words written max.
That's a lotAverage speed (on a good day): anywhere from 2500 - 3000 words per sprint / session [2-3 hours, sometimes more if I push myself]
Chapter length (on average): 5500 - 6500 words / chapter but some can easily go longer
Hmm.The rest of the time between writing and posting, is spent polishing, editing, and prepping story content in my notes, sorting ideas, and brainstorming, or generally decompressing.
Woah.if having to read what I'm typing, like with online speed tests, I'm a slow reader, so around 30-40 wpm, but typing for myself, maybe around 50-70 wpm. If I know what I am typing, something I've written half a dozen times, well over 80-100 wpm.
My average day writing is around 0-5k words? But that's because I'm writing 6 different stories at once.
Sometimes, I get stuck on one story, and need to think about it. so I switch to a different story. 0 words for one story, and 2k+ for another.
Other times, I can write a few chapters for each, 2k words per chapter per book. which would be a good day, 10k-12k(+) words.
It really just depends on mood, and if I can sit myself down for the day.
Sometimes, I'm busy, other times I have errands, life, work, obligations, or sometimes my body just decides to be an annoyance in one way, or another. Some random health issue, headaches, cramps, tired, sleepy, depression, or I'm just Fkn horni. I mean, human is to be human.
But, I do try to get at least one page out every other day for one of the 3 books i have posted here, more so if possible.. Keyword "try." and other times I'm just trying to write something I'm working on for myself. Passion projects, n stuff.
Either way. I'm typically writing.
Impressive!1500 words in 35 minutes to an hour.
At least you are consistent. My writing speed is 1.5k- 2k words per day.(chapter refinement included) But that's partly due to me having some bad writing habits and being excessively inefficient.
(Unlike others here, that isn't my chosen pace, that is my limit. I can't exceed that unless I fix my bad habits.)
Wait, what?Interesting. I challenge all of you on Final Sentence Final Sentence on Steam
Okay, that's traumatizing and awesome.Interesting. I challenge all of you on Final Sentence Final Sentence on Steam
To be fair even if you don't write very fast, it truly doesn't matter when it comes to what you write. If the story needs more words to describe one part then you might instinctively start writing faster. And if it requires thoughtfulness mostly when it's a major event, you will slow down. And everyone does say the same thing. But yes, mood is a very large factorI have seen a lot of people publishing new chapters every day. What's your writing speed (word per day or word per minute)?
