It depends on the game. Generally I don’t like exploring so much in games so I will use a walkthrough for locations.

I usually try to figure out a puzzle a little bit before consulting a walkthrough, but I don’t let myself go back and forth too much before going to one, mostly because I play only single player games.

For RPGs I will look up build types before playing because if I spend 50 hours building a character that can’t win the game, I’d probably drop the game.

Metroidvanias I tend to not use walkthroughs because it’s hard to keep track on what you’re supposed to do next unless you follow them from the get go. Also metroidvanias are more about trying to go to places you can’t go, I guess I might use it to find an upgrade I need if I get tired of looking (again I hate forced exploration, I’d rather it marks a spot on the map to help you move forward in the game.”

I grew up renting games from Blockbuster. Given time restraints, I skimmed through the Prima strategy guides without buying them. Memorized as much as I could so I could try to beat the game in three days lol.

Maybe it's just my gamer's pride talking, but I'd rather try everything I can before relying on a walkthrough because otherwise, I'd feel like I was cheating somehow. Also, I feel like if you rely on them too much(which I've done before), it sucks all the fun out of the game, but that's just me. What do you think?

no one is forcing you to watch them so what does it matter anyway? i watch them for shit i missed. Otherwise, i watch Lets Plays for stuff i wont play or have already played a fair amount of.

I watch FightinCowboy's stuff mainly for his reactions and humor, for example. I like the dude and wanna see how he'd react to certain shit. No more or less. Other than that type of stuff, walkthroughs are fine by me. Some games NEED walkthroughs. I want to ENJOY a game, not spend hours upon hours irl tryna solve some puzzle, find some item, or beat some unreasonably hard boss. Some people got jobs, bro

If i feel i need a little help, a walkthrough is a godsend. Its nice just to have the option

Likewise, if you have a scientific pondering about the influence of wings profile on the lift force when the chord is parallel to the freestream and how flat wings are enough, you're more likely to discuss it in a specialized place rather than sharing those thougts with your friends on SHF
