Your purpose for writing?

1. To get better at writing.
2. I want to leave my story somewhere.
3. Because I imagine things, and they cannot get out of my head.
4. The story feels like an alternative universe where you can escape reality.

I wasn't joking tho. I love to see a character going through hardship. It makes the ending more satisfying. XD
Hmmm...agree. I probably won't torture my characters...just whatever the plot throws at them XD :P
I think I would do that too though. Hardships can break or strengthen a character. Good for character development.

It's good that many novelists are born with brilliant and simple purposes!

I'm emotionally distant in real life so it lets me process all of my brain-goo in a 'distanced' environment :blob_nom:

I'm sure this is healthy and won't explode in my face in the future.

My purpose is not to create something with lots of hidden depth, it is just to entertain others and enjoy it at the same time. I might accidentally write something that has more depth to it than intended, but that's something more in tune with the death of the author than anything.

It's how I express myself after learning things!

For example, I've been into soap-making for a while. Then I imagine...... what if I transmigrated into a distant fantasy past? Can I use my cultivation skills to make good soap? Qi to extract herbal oils and use them in cultivation soaps? How would I promote my special soap? If I can't make my own moulds, do I hire martial artists or ask my shixiongs and shidis to help me out?

Stuff like that! A bit of magic into everyday life! :blob_uwu: Not that I'd post them, of course. I honestly don't think anyone would read those scribbly journals of mine. They don't have plot - it's all world-building, and a lot of sketches of cultivational soaps.......

Oh yeah! I wanted to own a boutique in a Wuxia world too! Fire-repellent fabric made of certain beast skins, etc.... how to skin, what type of thread to use, how to market and sell...

So my brain would shut up and let me sleep peacefully

Jokes aside, I've been longing to deconstruct isekai because I think despite the unique takes and variations between one another, it is still stale

It's the least of what I can do for consuming and loving them before it became popular like Overlord and Youjo Senki through reading their light novels

Have you ever felt the kind of boredom where you just keep scrolling over the novel names and none of the synopses hit the spot—because you are looking for something (slightly) different? Then you finally get fed up and go, "Fine, I'll do it myself."

That's the reason mainly.

The reason I have started to write is simply because I really like kingdom-building and army-building novels. I read through I think all of the ones that suit my taste and then ended up with nothing in hand, which lead me to making dreams and... well, this is how I too got enslaved.

However, I also found it a useful exercise to improve my english. Plus, it's a really good feeling when people like what you write! :s_smile:

I've tried to write different times to improve my writing before going for the kb+ab big fish. Never ever really started those other projects, with a few chapters out at the maximum, mostly because of rl issues. RIP.

Same. Dunno why it loves to become a storyteller suddenly at midnight when it needs to sleep.

Two reasons.

First, to explore my emotions and my underrepresented culture.

Second, to express my endless depth of depravity.

Correction: Your writing career doesn't exist when you don't have a Bachelor's Degree in English.
English is not the only language out there. However, I do agree that for online publishing, it is the best option.

My reason for writing is nothing glorious. I am just experimenting, trying something new. I want to see if I can create a story that others will enjoy. However, it is restricted in the domain of hobbies. I want to be casual and don't stress myself too much. Even if I put aside matters like creativity and originality, my English proficiency is low enough to hinder me. Often, I can't express myself the way I desire, and I could if I was writing in my native language. So, for now, I have no delusions that writing can be anything more than a pass-time enjoyment. Well, I do hope that with practice, I can level up my writing/language skills.
