Do they play along and solve the mystery, participating in the hijinks? Or do they just leave and find a way out or solve the mystery when the monster first appears. They are aware of the universe they are in.

Yep, and they would throw the gang into a loop. Some of my MCs would be the first to volunteer to capture the monster to study it and be disappointed it is a human in a costume.

So long as it is not Velma, I am fine with whatever Scooby doo and their shenanigans. :blob_blank:

That aside, the main would love the potential horror. The second main not in the slightest, he’ll get dragged into it either way.

The main would likely have fun scaring the second main, before they solve the mystery.

Unless it is something actually serious, then they’d jump onto solve it right away.

They would have grown up on Scooby Doo and know a lot about them. Not only would they stay for the mystery but depending on the type of Scooby Doo series, he could easily guess the villain but choose not to say because they want to join in on the shenanigans.

Err, my MC is an elder god she'd figure out what was going on pretty quickly but can you imagine the gang's reaction when a bunch of eyes and tentacles appeared and started to do stuff?

Can‘t the MC pretend to not know for the fun of it and transform. Then when she leaves she shows a little bit of her true self as she leaves the world.

Depends on the story the MC is from. Jack Diamond would either figure out the mystery way too soon ... or just kill the bad guy and then realize it was only a dude in a mask.
Kelly would definitely play along - both versions grew up on the cartoons. Original Kelly would also try to hit on Fred (and/or Shaggy), but Strange Awakening Kelly would just have fun hanging with the gang.
The group from Between Worlds... well, Audrey pretty much IS Daphne only maybe a little smarter (and able to teleport); Malcolm would ... well, he'd basically wind up acting just like Sam in "Scoobynatural" - both screwing things up and then trying to fix them (while fending off Velma's advances). David would play along with the whole thing, as would Carol. Liz and Sandra would both just beat the tar out of the monster (even if it DID turn out to be supernatural)...

As the Scooby Doo is.

Scooby Doo himself is an oddly sapient dog which doesn't follow the logic of his own setting as there aren't supposed to be any supernatural creatures...

Yet, we have a dog which doesn't behave like a dog, is oddly sapient, intelligent, and oddly unkillable, despite sustaining all the kind of damage. Note this happens only to him, and not the rest of the party, or to Shaggy but only if Shaggy is in the direct line of sight from the "dog". There are some exaggerated things for comedy, but nothing extreme happens to the humans, only to the dog, which in turn, is completely invulnerable. Nothing seems to harm the "dog". His body is more or less the putty, which could be flattened, and restored at will.

The laws of physics don't apply to him. Even gravity.

The "dog" needs to be consciously aware he is in the air, and realize he is supposed to be falling down, otherwise gravity doesn't apply.

Scooby Doo was designed by the artist going to breeders and looking for the WORST traits in a Great Dane - and then drawing them all.

When I created a Scooby Who? game to run at conventions (Doctor Who meets Scooby Doo - not quite as silly as it sounds; if the Scooby Doo series that featured guest stars every episode had gotten a second season, it would have been concurrent with Tom Baker's second year in the role), I gave Scooby the "Alien" trait to explain his abilities... :s_tongue:

They’d activate U.I Shaggy, and the gang will think they are a monster in a mask. :blob_evil:

My MC would try to fight the monster and wouldn't understand what's scary about them when they turn out to be so weak :blob_sweat:

He wouldn't mock them or anything, he would just be genuinely perplexed.

Curiously, the "dog" is gone in the newest adaptation, and while the show still has silly or stupid things, it didn't follow the same logic.

Almost as the "dog" entity and its powers to warp reality were crucial for the world to work the certain way

Funny enough, though my world is moderately serious (Or at least not cartoony/comedic), there is a canonical path through which such an event could occur. This would absolutely be Li's fault, though there's no point in getting mad at him. He's not capable of understanding that he has this much power.

Mordecai: "You know, there is the occasional downside to having made friends with the shattered god. Well, let's play along and see what this shard of Li has pulled us into."

Kazue: "At least there's a puppy to pet, but his friend smells a little strange. Please don't leave me alone with him."

Moriko: "I can't believe we're playing a game for the god of chaos. Alright, do I at least get to punch this so-called monster? It doesn't have a strong presence, so I promise to be 'gentle'. Ish."

My MC is a Breton knight (from Elder Scrolls games), so I guess she'll stay for the sake of doing quests.
