Most tigers aren't likely to attack humans these days-- the Champawat tiger really is an outlier, as noted in that article.
Regardless, I'd simply attempt to befriend and/or distract the tiger. They're just huge dangerous cats in a lot of ways, and I know what cats like. Alternately, ask for help.
The only way to win a weaponless human vs tiger confrontation is to avoid it in the first place.
If they get a perfect surprise attack on you, they probably kill you, sure-- humans can probably kill you with a perfect surprise attack anyways, so tigers aren't really different in that regard.
