Ya’ll know any good cultivation stories without the red flags?

I started to wonder if there were any good cultivation type stories without the normal red flags that are in almost all of them. You know, repetitive story, constant face slapping, awful villains, 1 dimensional side characters, shitty Mc (lack of character development), the author riding the Mc’s d***, etc. The only stories I know without these flags or are minimal with them is Cultivation Chat Group and Fake Cultivator, but I wanted to know if there were any other cultivation stories that fit the bill.

Sorry, but all cultivation novels are exactly the same.

Shameless plug, but in all seriousness, I think you might like it?

Virtuous cultivation (very slow and not full of action at all. Mc is not awful but too fucking realistic)
Devourer of destiny (deleted by author, not completed)
The essence of cultivation (very few chapters, sporadic updates)
A lonely exploration of tao
Master of the system (somewhat sarcastic parody of the genre)
-all from my rrl reading list, except second.
The ancestor of our sect isn't acting like an elder
C language cultivation

I don't think your search has a happy ending.

You know this is funny considering my story cover contains a literal red flag.... also its fucking died because I cringed so hard at my pandering

Anyways, here's a good cultivation story:

For my actual recommendations, I will conveniently ignore the portion about face slapping since that is part of the Xianxia package for me.(I haven't touched Xianxia stories in a while, sorry bout that)

Forty Millenniums of cultivation - Unfortunately the translation is on webnovel but if I recall the first few chapters are great.

History's Number 1 Founder - This is basically satire of everything you said above

Cultivating to Become a Great Celestial - This one is good if you can tolerate a sort of powerless MC.

I think World of Cultivation and A Will Eternal are pretty good. Well, I don't remember any side characters of AWE, so maybe not, but no red flags from WoC come to mind.

Let me check out what Xianxia I'm currently following.

The Last Ship in Suzhou is one of my favorites. In it, so far, cultivation feels like it's more about eastern philosophy and spiritual development and less about raising power levels via lucking into drugs and cheat codes. I'd also recommend Virtuous Sons, which is basically Xianxia but based on Greek/Roman philosophy and culture instead of Chinese ones. It manages to integrate the philosophy and archetypes into the setting and its characters beyond just giving names to power levels as a lot of the generic Xianxia/Xuanhuan webnovels today do. Both stories also manage to have MCs who are suited to cultivation in a way that would be expected from a story that inspired these genres, as opposed to whatever bloodlines/systems/reincarnation/time travel/spiritual roots/et al. the webnovels these days have to let their MCs cultivate x times as fast.

I normally find stories about analyzing magic with science to be shallow, like making everyone other than the MC stupid, and the thing being scienced not being very interesting. I found Essence of Cultivation to be one of the few stories to be relatively well thought out in terms of studying how cultivation works from a science-ish perspective.

Alpha Cultivation is sort of a parody, but is internally consistent/well written and has a surprisingly wholesome MC.

Ave Xia Rem Y is basically a generic Xianxia story in terms of premise, but is generally well written and is generally good at avoiding pitfalls. Fates Parallel is slightly less generic but I also don't have much to say about it other than that I've really enjoyed it.

Shianshia will be shianshia. You cannot avoid the face slapping, the young master arrogance and the ntr.

What you can, however, is to learn true cultivation which will help you when there is a famine or when the lockdown is so long no food is being sold.

There are many books that teach farming, but if you want fiction, you can try https://www.novelupdates.com/series/i-love-farming/
