I had seen xianxia versus superheroes. I had unfortunately seen a badly represented xianxia superhero.

I had seen xianxia versus cyberpunk. I had also seen them breeding together to form futuristic cultivation, with explanations and mutations.

I think I never seen a xianxia versus mages... it was either just xuanhuan (reskinned chinese cultivation/ leveling to fit some western themes) or botched craps with xianxia calling the mages "savages" or just rolled into one big family of cultivation BS.

Is it because they are the same in terms of being mystical and seeking longevity and their only difference is the non-human beings their individual group is specist to?

They're two different energy systems and they conflict pretty strongly in mechanics.

When merged together it just creates a bastardized system that is just one or the other with extra steps.

Take Naruto chakra for example it's at core a cultivation like system, but everyone just uses it like magic. And the whole cultivation part got cut out.

Yup.

And I am very interested to see a work that featured both system of practice and have them clash with one another.

For example: how does one magic? Via sorcery, wizardry and becoming a patreon?

Chinese cultivation has always been a lie, saying that everyone can be a deity but in most novels I go through, it is a blend between sorcery (born with it) and wizardry (grind).

For most stories what you are looking for is hard. Most of the time if the two systems are together once magic hits a certain point its pretty much the same as Xianxia. Either that or the author says it is magic but its just another cultivation story with the same cliches.

The only one I could think of that actually feels like a conflict between the two is a story called "Imperial Wizard - Arcane Awakening" on RR. In that story the mc is a wizard or mage of some kind that gets lost in time. When he awakens the magic system people use in the world has changed and it is closer to an low level Xianxia.

Disclaimer: I dropped the story. The writing was good and such I just didn't like the main character. He seemed to passive for my taste and I just didn't like his personality.

many ways! To the point that after a while you wing it! It's not like there is a manual to bending and breaking rules of reality. It's all creative work reliant on luck and ability - not some nebulous energy/matter thing that lets you go tueee as long as numbers go up

There is a similar story, at least for the premise you shared, that's pretty great.
as a witch, I must say that mages are obviously superior to the point that there is no reason to even compare
As a puppet that spawned from a mage's work (of sorts), I fervently affirm your statement! I cannot agree more!!!

Just like most works in Royalroad, once the author thinks that it is fine, he removed a significant chunk of the beginning and paywalled it.

So I just do what I do best. Not bothering with the work.

Currently am reading the thing. Having an OP MC from the start is killing me though.

Quick question, when did RRL become a hornball site with so many lewd advertisements of the works published?
I think it was just a trend where the authors wanted to see how they could make their story seem lewd through advertisement for shiitake mushrooms and giggles.

Well one, it made me felt that I was back to Japan (yes, a shit ton of anime titties for online advertisement) and two, I had clicked one or two of those and was genuinely disappointed by the false advertisement... go figure.

age old tactic: sex sells

edit: it is only recently that authors realized that or maybe they realized the site doesn't care as long as they're making money. it used to be shitty memes and weird quotes

The Essence of Cultivation is the only book this one encountered that had a cultivation and magic system and didn't decide to transform a side to become a huge wet noodle.

You'll probably have to find the rare D&D novel with a monk in it. Which I wouldn't know as I only read Eleminster, rastline, and Drizzt books, and that was 15 years ago. I mean, there's magic and ki in D&D so it's gotta be a thing.

The beginning after the end, Chaos:heir and Suprem Magus are novel that fusion both system and (in my opinion) are well made. Also I don't remember the name but there was one novel with different planet and on each, civilization come with different power system, some goes with the cultivation one, another with the magic system, and there was one with rune system.

I think these two system don't appear in most novel clashing against each other is because they are the same at their origin. Mage use the energy of the universe/world to use magic spell (while creating a mana core in their body for a few story), while cultivator do the same with the energy to strengthen their body.
The only difference is that cultivator want to and can reach godhood.
