Anyone interested in (or know anyone who would be interested in) forming a writing group where we share, read and discuss each others' writing regularly (~ 1 ch per person every week) as a way to encourage each other, stay accountable, and also have a community?

I have started a couple of BL stories, but I keep losing steam before I finish because it feels like I'm writing into a vacuum :c

I'm open to it and honestly I do feel like I need proper feedback to improve as well, though I'm writing a diff genre (adventure-action-fantasy etc), hope that's ok

Hello~ I followed the summon.

I wouldn’t say I run BL Palace, I’m the discord mod that has nothing to do because everyone is too law abiding ?

It’s quiet because everyone is an introvert, but if you have questions or need beta reader, then just go to writing-room. We are a bunch from all around the world so answered might come in the middle of your nighttime.

I'm over 100 chapters in my story, I definitely could use the feedback but understandably, it's a lot of information to follow. I could recap my story for people to follow on with the newest chapters, but I feel it would reduce the impact of many callbacks and character moments.

Still, I would like an opportunity to be a part of such a group. It would be especially beneficial for novels that don't receive much feedback from their readers.

I would be in for it. I don't have an extreme lot of time, but I feel like that might be a good idea. Gaining insight from people of different walks of life, especially if the group isn't extremely big and thus a bit more personal; there would be more of a chance to actually engage with each other and the stories involved.
I write BL as well, though my current main project isn't. Otherwise it's usually Fantasy, Adventure or elements of action.

omg I'm so happy to see so many responses!! Writing can be lonely/isolating so I'm sooo happy to be forming this group!

I made a discord so it's easier to discuss: https://discord.gg/dmhxthNQ (the link expires in 7 days, feel free to reach out to me if the link has expired but you want to join in!)

fantasy/adventure/action is welcome! As long as you don't mind reading BL :D I usually have those elements in my stories anyways so that's perfect!

Also omg I love smut! I have a fair amount in mine as well ? I think depending on what the group prefers the smut can be separated out as optional reading so people can choose to just read and discuss the plot/characters! I ofc will be reading all your smut teehee :D

Also, it's fine if you already have written lots of chapters, let's do recaps of relevant info at the start of each chapter/excerpt that's shared (:

Also, totally agreed, I'm hoping this will be a small group that mutually shares writing regularly (ideally weekly), instead of a large group where you feel like whether you share your writing or not, nobody will notice.

Feel free to join the discord if you're interested and leave later if you realize this group isn't the right fit for you!

I’ve had it tried in a couple servers but none for writing specifically, it’s usually just one channel or two for general advice. If it is a full server it’s usually dedicated to a fanfic of a certain type, etc. The problem for all of them runs into how fast people actually respond, and *if* they respond. And when I get into overly complex stuff, understandably, people tend to not reply at all sometimes

Worst case scenario you just need to create your own group.
