I've written a thesis. I haven't written a novel :sweating_profusely:

A thesis is definitely more stressful though. I think my body underwent various negative changes over the course of my thesis

The main difficulty with writing fiction is motivation, really

As someone who has written both a thesis and several works of fiction, I can definitively say (for myself) that writing my thesis was way more difficult. A thesis requires accurate research and clear, concise writing as well as accurate citations of other works. There is definitely a wrong way to write a thesis or any other academic paper, whereas fiction - as we all know - has a set of "rules" that every single writer will promptly break if it doesn't suit their personal writing style. Additionally, in fiction, we're essentially creating our own "truth" within the context of the story, but with a thesis or other academic work, you really do have to stick with objective truths or at the very least be able to defend your theory in a credible way.
