Writers, why do you delete your books?

I think of deletion as another form of revision. I work on a book, come back to it months later and decide it isn't what I want. I think I have revised every one of my ebooks three or four times - even after they are published. But some books I look back at and I know I went off in a wrong direction. The book stinks and no revision will fix it. So - I delete. It saves me the embarrassment of having a book out that really isn't very good.

It annoys me when something I was reading suddenly disappears so i don't tend to do it as an author. The only reason I feel is a good reason would be that it needs to be taken down for publishing reasons or if you have concerns with the place the story is hosted. In the latter you should then find somewhere else to host it though.

This would be funny except someone ran for congress and they got a smear ad posted about "Why would you want an level 47 orc shaman as your representative?"

Though I hope stuff like that doesn't happen often.

Other than that, I only deleted things from RR when I nuked and deleted my account.

I'll be deleting two of my books later. the first is going to be rewritten, and I don't want the original up, causing confusion. the other is part of a restructure - I'll be dividing my one shots between canon to my larger world (lay the dragon and DragonBound), and completely standalone.

I delete it because I am an evil, vile, vixen. Readers want more chapters? I gave them less! Muhahahahahaha!!! My villainy doesn't even extend an olive branch to the poor readers, crying in their chairs! Muhahahahaha!!!

I deleted mine because I didn't like the direction I was going for one, and don't know enough about Korea for the other.

That said, my upcoming novel is in 2 settings I'm intimately familiar with. High level political intriguing and historical eras
