Would you read a shark girl sci-fi comedy with chaos, cleavage, and government agents?

Hey all,

I’ve been posting a sci-fi comedy here called She Came From Below. It’s about a college guy who finds a naked shark girl on the beach, gives her a granola bar, and accidentally becomes public enemy #1.

It’s got:

  • A shark girl who moans like a haunted hentai
  • An octopus girl who flirts way too easily
  • A mouse girl with no volume control
  • A bald eagle Vice President
  • And a kangaroo pop star who may or may not be running a country

It’s not smut, but it’s full of suggestive chaos, towel mishaps, romance, and satire. Mostly I just want to know:
Is this the kind of thing people here would read?

Happy to hear honest thoughts. I’m almost done posting the whole thing.

Thanks!

No. Just from your description, it sounds like trying to cover all the popular tropes is more important to you than the story itself. I know virtually nothing about what the book is about, just that its full of naked animal girls and lolrandom humor.

I would give it a try probably. Doing 'chaos' in a story can kill it or make it top tier, depening on how good it's done.

That’s fair. I leaned hard into the “lolrandom monster girl chaos” for the post, and I see how it came off like trope salad. There’s definitely more to the story—especially around Rion and Mia trying to survive in a world that’s weaponized both of them—but I get that none of that came through in the pitch.

Thanks for the honest callout. It helps. Might rewrite the blurb to strike a better balance between the humor and the heart.

You know there was a horror-comedy "Shark Girl" that came out last year (and is available free on Tubi), and an anime series that translates as Shark Girl (I found both looking for a similar title, Shark Boy and Lava Girl, a children's movie from a few years back). Not sure if that would cause confusion/conflict with your concept or not.

Thanks for the heads up! I actually looked into this before writing. I didn't want to be copy of another story and I can safely say, this story is nothing like either of those.
