  • The 10 readers will not be able to spend money but the hundred will spend a lot of money.
  • The 100 readers won't be able to interact with you (no blobs, no comments,no polls, no messaging the author in the profiles ,etc) but the opposite is true for the 10 readers
  • What would you do if this was 1 reader who interacts and 1000 readers who spend money

Before I started posting, I would say 100, but now that I have a few readers that are always active I wouldn't replace them for even 1000 paying ones. Turns out this daikon is bigger softie than she thought :blob_happy:

Probably 10 readers, though it would depend on the amount of money. If we're talking about a subscription on Patreon, which is 5$ monthly per person minus taxes at minimum, for me it's quite a lot of money.
Can be 100$ per person if you want but they won't interact with you

Oh yeah, then at least right now, definitely the money.

It probably helps with my choice that I'm introverted and don't like people butting in to my writing, though I feel like that's something likely to change.

I meant interact as in chapter comments , reviews, fanart and etc not as in involving themselves in the writing process itself

Well, yeah, that's what I meant. Unless writing tftc counts as interaction, then any interaction means involving in the writing process indirectly, ever so slightly. To some degree it's great for me, and I'm grateful for the people who make the effort to actively comment and give a bit of constructive criticism and encouragement, but I'm assuming you mean some more involvement than the occasional comment, and I personally find it distracting if there's too much of that.

Out of my 11 patrons, I have only 3 who have interacted with me in any way. And I'm totally OK with that. I'm not doing it for just the money, but it is definitely a major draw for me. Especially since I'd love to make it my primary source of income.

If that wasn't obvious, I picked the money.

100 readers because even if they don't interact a lot, if they are willing to invest money in your novel, it means they like it much more than those 10 who interact a lot in it but don't pay.

Don't get me wrong, interactive readers are always a delight to have. But being interactive doesn't really mean that they will support you. One of them might be whining in every chapter, and another might be a hate reader, interacting all the time in a bad way.

Moreover, 100 is more than 10, which will spread the novel's popularity faster.

So, all in all, while this is an unnatural case, I would choose the 100 over the 10. I don't mind the loyal little lurkers silently appreciating my work. :3

Being willing to spend money means they really appreciate what I write. Through my eyes and from my wallet's perspective, I would see these 100 fans as true fans, not freeloaders like the other ten. It's harsh to say, but if you compare them, the contrast is stark, and that's why I try to avoid finding myself in this situation and remain a hobbyist. :ROFLMAO:

How much money would 100 readers spend tho?
Will they spend money if I dropped the novel? Will they have conditions like I have to write more?
