Depends on the power.
Super speed, superman like powers, really impressive shapeshifting, yes. Although I'd rob a lot of the richer criminals and live a good life.
Shoot lasers out of my eyes, really good healing, super senses, and things that don't give me a really good chance of winning without dying, I'll help out if I see something happening.

I don't think I could be a hero like superman or batman. Easier to end the criminal

Yeah, that’s what those kids at the park who dress up like vampires say too.

They wear all black with make up and stuff.
I guess vampires are edgelords.

Cool.
those are some brave words for someone who isnt friends with speed wagon.

who will you have to sacrifice for the emotional powerup to defeat me?

Depends in the superpower but I'd do it for cash. I'm definitely going antihero tho because if I'm gonna be raiding cartels/gangs/mafias I definitely need to launder that money if I want to use it.

Given how I currently act with my current non-super abilities, I imagine if I had powers that let me help people without dying or other severe risks, I'd absolutely use them if the right situation came up, maybe even put myself at risk if I really really needed to in the heat of the moment.

But actively seeking out fights? No, probably not-- doesn't seem like an efficient use of time even if I was utterly devoted to doing as much good as possible and was less harm-avoidant.

If it is only a slight boost in fighting, no. Hell no. That means it is a weakass superpower like Peak Human Physique or Luke Cage's shitty bulletproof skin.

Then when you think you are hotshit and tries to become the neighborhood watchdog, people all around and more powerful than you will fuck you up.

Case and point is the government. The G man will never stop at trying to fuck you up.

Also, becoming a vigilante is tempting fate because you now have a secret shitty job and if someone knows your true (civvie) identity, shit will hit the fan.

My experience with helping people its best to wait for the person in question to ask for help and you help them the way they want the help. So I probably wouldn't be going around trying to save people unless what I could do would be able to read minds and understand there consciousness and desires.
I'd most likely be a vigilante but more focused on helping myself and people I like, and focusing on studying some people to write better characters for books I want to write. I'd later help those people secretly lol.

If you woke up one day and found that you gained powers that in some way gave you a leg up when it comes to fighting, would you become a vigilante?

I'm not asking whether morally you'd be a great person, I'm asking if you'd be willing to do good with those powers. If y'all are interested I can make another poll asking about supervillains but that depends
I think it depends on whether the power provides a way to avoid or fend off against all forms of firepower that I can trust to consistently work unless I make a genuinely poor mistake. If so, then I would absolutely love trying at making others’ lives better through vigilantism.

There's a lot of different roads to go with this, but very few of them involve getting in fights with random jerks and criminals. If I happened to be nearby I'd try to help, just like any other good samaritan, but I wouldn't go looking for trouble.

I would rather try to make 'villainy' impossible in the first place.
