If some Devil like guy or chick with the usual... horns, wings and tail... someday magically popped in and offered to perform some "minor" miracle for you, free of charge. Would you accept ?

They give you a little demonstration to show that they're for real, and can actually deliver, but they won't give you any magic powers or anything like that, and if you choose to accept, everyone in the world will believe that whatever the devil changed was always so, so you would have nothing you could ever point to, as a proof that it ever happened, all you would have is your memory... Anyway... They could make you rich, or heal you if you're sick, or change your appearance, or make you highly talented at something, etc... Something you want, but something you know that you can't get in any other way...

They assure you its free of charge, and you won't lose your soul or go to hell or anything like that if you accept...
But they won't give you an actual reason if you ask...

So what would you do?

1. Accept and live with the fear that they might have lied about the... its free of charge and there are no consequences part...
2. Reject and live with the knowledge that you could have gotten what you wanted, and you got only yourself to blame that you didn't...

----

PS. If you're an Atheist... Would the usual religious dogma, which you don't believe in, about the morality and trustworthiness of The Devil or demons, still affect your decision ?

I think I'd be too busy processing the fact there's a real devil in front of me, tbh.
I'm more likely to freeze up from my mind being overloaded.
'-'
Once I hopefully gather myself, I'd probably ask why they came to me, if they're doing this for everyone - or selected individuals, etc...
Actually, here are more questions I'd ask:
- Why do you have horns?
- Why do you have a tail?
- Why do you have wings?
- What do you usually do?
- Was he a fallen angel, or originally a devil, or something else?
- What's his stance on souls? As in, are they really real? Do devils really consume souls?
- How long does he live for?
- Does he come from Hell?
- If Hell is real, what's it like for him?
- Actually, do devils have genders?
- Does his species reproduce?
- If they do, how do they reproduce?
- Do other kinds of devils exist, like succubi/incubi, cambions, imps, etc...?
- If everyone in the world wouldn't notice any changes, then wouldn't that also mean I wouldn't know either?
- If that's the case, then how would I remember if I did sell my soul or make some deal?
- How does his magic work?
- What's his opinion on religion?
- How are things run where he comes from?
- What does he eat - if it's not just souls, I mean?
- Can he actually fly, or are the wings just for decoration?
- Has he ever tried human food?
- Was he ordered to come here by someone else?
- How do his peers think of him?

By that point, I don't know if I'd end up just continuously asking questions and basically forget the offer in the first place.

If the Devil took the million questions as a "No" and just disappeared in the middle of the interrogation... how would you feel about that ?

I would probably refuse because there’s nothing that I want strong enough that’s worth the perceived risk.

If the devil really had such magical powers there would be no reason stopping him from doing whatever he wanted, i.e. f-ing everyone over as he pleases. In other words there would likely be some constraints on what he could do.

Possibility one: He has some constraints to what he can do. Considering he came and offered a wish, i would guess its some form of contract, or other form or restraint requiring consent. As such, he likely isn't lying. If lying was allowed, he could get you to agree to anything (like will you buy these groceries, while pretending to be a salesman, and then do whatever). Accept, but word the wish very carefully.
Possibility two: No constraints. - The devil can do whatever, so might as well accept.

So yeah, i'd just accept.

So can I ask for a realy good hamburger or something. I don't want for much, anyway.

With so much power it may be bored to death and may as well play by it's own rules if only to entertain itself with the challenge.

In this movie it literally gives a burger as a sample wish to prove it's devilish powers :9

I'd like to ask for perfect health until I'm 100 years old. I don't want to live forever, but I feel I could do a lot more with my precious time here if I didn't have to worry about gestational diabetes and the possibility of developing permanent diabetes after pregnancy. Being pregnant has made me exhausted all the time, and I want my energy back.

I know better than to reject free things, so I'll take a free sample of (Minor) Miracle™ and swoosh it all in one swoop.

I'd take it and then lend it out for someone else to use for a bit. See what happens.
