Would like to share my novel project - and request some feedback

Hey all,

I’m currently working on a dark fantasy serial called An Empire of Dragons: The Sleeping Flame, and I’m looking for some honest feedback as I keep writing.

Right now I’m sitting at ~35k words with 15 chapters + a prologue posted.

The story follows two POVs:

• Sahvra, a Wildkin survivor helping lead a small underground resistance after their safe haven is destroyed
• Rhoric, a captain in the Emberwatch starting to question the system he serves

The world leans into political control, magic, and creeping authoritarianism—mages are tracked and registered, dissent is suppressed, and a new regime is tightening its grip under the promise of “order.”

It’s very character-driven and a bit of a slow burn, but things are starting to escalate pretty heavily.

I’d really appreciate feedback on things like:

• pacing (especially early chapters vs. later ones)
• character voice / consistency
• whether the worldbuilding feels clear or confusing
• anything that pulls you out of the story
