Would anyone be interested in collaborating on a story?

I don't have any specific ideas for a story, but I've always thought I'd enjoy creating something alongside someone else. You can check out any of my stories if you want to know how skilled I am/what my style's like. It could either be like we both write for the story, or I write it based on your ideas, or whatever.

It's often that im interested for a co project, though its mostly that i provide alot of ideas or already have one in mind XD or am in a slumb :S. Or the others already quit cuz of different time zones. If i were to join in a co project, it would be mostly a oneshot or like that >.<, cuz busy with own projects as well...

Hm.... checked urs.... i think the interest of genres might be.... differently hmmm sad :S

I actually would love to see a collaborated universe. Like every author writes there story in same universe, not breaking any canon/lore with there own protagonist(s). The world building would be so epic.
The stories could be anything from oneshots, diary entries to full blown volumes.

That sucks. What kind of genres are you interested in? I'm pretty adaptable when it comes to writing, and my interests are broader than what I usually write.

A big universe thing would be awesome, but I feel like it'd be hard to set up. The world building would be epic though, with pieces/stories maybe even being set in different time periods and such?

My interests is also wide spread to most genres. My goal is to write every genre once and afterwards.... well.... who knows XD restart maybe.

Well, it can be anything, a shared universe, a parallel universe and different timelines universe and etc

Hey,

Here's my mandatory plug to check out the Adventurer's Guild over on NUF if maybe you want practice writing stories with others/interested in RPing before you create a real one.

This is the link to register and you can snoop around the subforum there if it sounds like your thing. I'm Arexio over there too, so feel free to PM me to say hi and if you're interested in cooperating on an RP story over there.

Only reason why I wouldn't say here on SH is bc I'm behind on chapters (so I'm hiding out on NUF) and need to play catch up haha.

Have a good one,

Rex

I’ve stopped updating on a few of them. They were basically just 1 chapter “pilots” I released, if they didn’t garner a lot of interest I didn’t continue them.

In any case, I like having my plate full.

I looked at that and, well, I’m not into RP that much. What I’m thinking of here is an actual story. Thanks though!

In that case, what do you think of picking up one of my stories? The one I have in mind is True Nobility. I haven't had time to actually write, and I really want to see at least one of my ideas finished.

I have an idea that might be fun: an anthology of stories based around a single theme.

My theme suggestion: "Chain Letters"

Here's the wiki explanation on what a chain letter is.

NB: I can do the editing for all the submissions. Authors can choose to submit one or more short stories whenever they like (min 1500 words, max 10K). As long as the theme is consistent they can build their own universes or reference other stories in the anthology.

Here are some rules to make the work more challenging:
  • A chain letter can take any form (actual letter, email, sticky note, license plate, thumb drive, tattoo etc) so long as the 'item' containing the message undergoes a delivery process to particular recipient(s) that the sender is antiquated with.
  • A chain letter can only be received directly from someone the recipient is acquainted with and has met in person at least once (not shared in a book at a public library or posted to social media or on an online forum). Any form of mass distribution will render the letter inert and / or unreadable. The recipient does not need to know who sent the letter for it to take effect.
  • A chain letter must ask the recipient to carry out specific action(s) in addition to passing on the letter itself (without changing its contents).
  • There must be a time limit for passing on the letter, usually within a certain number of days or prior to a certain well-known event that the recipient can easily be made aware of.
  • A chain letter can only be passed on to a specific person that the letter bearer knows personally has met them in person at least once, whether or not they actually conversed or have an existing relationship is irrelevant. Making eye contact is enough to establish individual(s) as an acquaintance.
  • A chain letter can only be successfully passed on if the intended recipient reads and understands the contents of the letter. The letter still takes effect even if the mode of delivery involves another person reading the chain letter, in which case the reader will be unaffected but the intended recipient will be affected.
  • Breaking a chain will lead to dire consequences (usually death, harm or financial loss to the recipient or to the recipient's loved one)
  • No racist, homophobic or gender-offensive slurs in any part of the story. Swearing is allowed, and fictional (made-up) slurs are allowed so long as the story itself isn't intentionally designed to offend a particular group of people.
Additional (Optional) Rules
  • If a chain letter requires more than one recipient to successfully be 'passed on', then the chain letter must specify the exact number of required recipients. The number of recipients specified must be within the realm of reason (you can't specify a million people for example).
  • Chain letters cannot be disposed of. If the letter is disposed of, it will return intact (or find its way back in another form) to the recipient along with a warning. If the recipient makes repeated attempts to discard the letter, the harm indicated in its contents will immediately happen.
  • Chain letters cannot mention any real person or institution by name, but can hint vaguely at their existence so long as they do not use any terms that are analogous to a name. A real person or institution means that the aforementioned exists in the world (universe) in which the letter exists (note: references to real life urban legends and mythology is encouraged + references to historical figures and well known persons / celebrities is also allowed, for example, "Pass this message along and you'll be as rich as Bill Gates!" References to non-famous people is disallowed)
  • The chain letter must specify the mode in which it is transmitted e.g. verbally, in writing, via a cassette tape, disk, brail, smoke signals etc.
Even if you're not interested in writing the a story with the above guidelines, please respond to this thread to let me know if it's a good idea and what ways you think it can be improved.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty lost here. So it's an anthology of stories about a chain letter being passed? Is it the same chain letter in every story? The way you're phrasing it makes it seem like it's all different chain letters, in which case, is the only connective tissue between all the stories just "message being passed on?"

I think stories about chain letters will get pretty repetitive going on - really, not to be insulting or anything, but the chain letter concept is really vague but really restrictive at the same time. Can't say I can think of a way to make a story about "I got a chain letter, better pass it on" different the seventh time through. I think I'll have to pass on the idea, but thank you.

That's cool.

Let me clarify: it's different types of chain letters in each story, and the letters have a supernatural element to them so that if you don't do what it says something bad will happen. Usually they ask you to do something (like run 100 miles in three days and give this letter to the first person you meet at the end of the run).

If you take the time to read what I've written you might find that there's a lot you can do with chain letters if you apply some creativity to it.

hm.... I had an idea with a co partner, but she is currently busy IRL. It's the same world and one story, but the viewpoint is from two Mcs.... sorta like each have their own mc with their own pov, so its possible to read from both povs. I prefer 3rd pov.

It is a romance fantasy oneshot, but it depends, it can be also a short novel.

I guess we could try to work it out. I wanted to write horror genre as I think the weirdness of having two writers wrote one story should enhance the tension and mysteriousness of the horror.

And I can rec you something that is what essentially you want to write,

Well ideally, it is entirely possible and not at all improbable that the two different styles end up making the "horror" become comedy.

There are times when Ai-chan imagined working with other authors in a single universe (not work with another in a single story, but in a universe). However, Ai-chan's stories are sacred to Ai-chan because they all come from Ai-chan's other lives in Ai-chan's dreams, so having another shoot down the details of Ai-chan's world and substituting it with his own details will make Ai-chan rage. Ai-chan doesn't have a problem with people putting their characters in the same universe, but Ai-chan can't accept people replacing already established details with something else.
