What is "Worm"?
Really, REALLY enjoyed reading Peasant from start to its current progress in the story! Thank ya, thank ya for the recommendation! I’m already rereading parts, and it was great fun!I'm currently reading Peasant, it's a really solid one. It's ongoing.
Also, Kill Them All is an old one from ShayneT, it's kinda like popcorn food but it has its strong moments, unexpectedly. Including the final battle. I'll just say that ShayneT knows how to make you feel the horror sometimes.
Just take the fucking L for once and probably the first time in your life.
Ok, except I said "Bug," and the other people are inserting the word "insect" into my mouth for some reason. You cannot change the words a person said in order to say therefore they are wrong.
Also, Corty has a huge vendetta against me for whatever reason, so you can't trust them on this one. Corty likes to randomly assert absolutely insane things, and I don't accept BS. So, they get fumming mad over it and start disagreeing with me just on principle, even when they are very obviously the one who's wrong on the subject.
@Corty I admit when I'm wrong. Key word, when I'm wrong. It happens quite often that I have to make such an admission. It just doesn't happen around you because you seriously do not seem to live in the world of reality. You live in the world of spiteful opposition and saying the opposite of whatever the other guy says, even when it's plainly obvious the opposite position is just way out in lala land.
EDIT: I decided to look up the definition. Turns out, yes, there is a scientific use of the term "bug." But there is also a colloquial use of the term. Just think back to when you were a kid and people called all little creepy crawlies "bugs." It was the general term people used.
Here's a link to the slang/colloquial term "bug" rather than the scientific term you'll find in the dictionary.
Top 38 Slang For Insect – Meaning & Usage
Insects may be small, but they have a big impact on our world. From buzzworthy bees to creepy crawly spiders, we encounter these critters all around us. Curious about the slang terms we use tofluentslang.com
And true to my word, I will admit I was wrong for insisting it was NOT a scientific term. Because, it is. But it's also a colloquialism.
You will see in the very 1st definition of the colloquial "bug," it does typically refer to those that hold the characteristics of insects, the term "typically" also means not always. The very nature of a colloquial term means it's something that you can play fast and loose with the definition on and start making it encompass a lot of things that maybe other people wouldn't classify that way, and basically everyone has their own definition of the term.
Bugs and Insects are different, yes. Then comes the question; Which one's bugs and which one's Insects?Yeah. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of people on the internet just don't understand what colloquialisms are.
Colloquialisms are real language, while dictionaries are an attempt by some people to keep up with the definitions that are constantly changing due to colloquialisms.
I was actually somewhat surprised to discover that "bug" now has a proper definition that narrowly defines it as particular varieties of insect. It's a case of their attempt to fit a definition to the particular kinds of "bugs" that have "bug" in their name.
But, to that, I have this question. What about pill bugs? Pill bugs are absolutely not insects.
Bug is a colloquialism, and trying to narrowly define it to apply to a particular kind of insect makes no sense and seems to breed more confusion than anything.
That's like asking what's the difference between food and a meal. Bug is a colloquial term and insect is a scientific term. Therefore, the question you just asked doesn't even make sense in the first place.Bro, you pulled an entire paragraph explaining bout stuff that I'll definitely won't read.
Oh yea, bout Corty. He's a drama queen, she's enjoying this debate, you know? I once got beefs with plenty of people in this forum cuz of uhh... Something. And guess what, Corty's in it to pour some more fuel and matches. So, it's better that we end this debate, it's getting a little off-topic.
Bugs and Insects are different, yes. Then comes the question; Which one's bugs and which one's Insects?
Fine then. xDThat's like asking what's the difference between food and a meal. Bug is a colloquial term and insect is a scientific term. Therefore, the question you just asked doesn't even make sense in the first place.
Also, arguments from disinterest are boring. If you're unsatisfied with my lack of depth in my answer, then learn to read larger paragraphs.
(Guess what. The question you just asked is a lot more thoroughly and effectively answered in the paragraphs you decided to skip over.)
I decided to follow the link and start reading. That was actually some incredibly good quality. I'm tempted to actually read more WORM fanfics if they all tend to have that much respect for the source material.
No, bugs are bugs and insects are insects.Fine then. xD
So, Bugs are insects but in non-biology terms, while insects are bugs in scientific terms?
Unfortunately, I've got some very bad news for you, sir... For most of them you'll have to either dislike them or develop a certain tolerance to fanon.I'm tempted to actually read more WORM fanfics if they all tend to have that much respect for the source material.
However, "Russian Caravan" on Space Battles may be up Jemini's alley.Unfortunately, I've got some very bad news for you, sir... For most of them you'll have to either dislike them or develop a certain tolerance to fanon.
If you want to be accurate, Spiders are NOT bugs nor Insect. They are called Arachnids. It goes on like this:
1. Kingdom: Animalia
2. Phylum: Arthropoda
3. Class: Arachnida
4. Order: Araneae
Bugs or Insects is differentiated by it's Class-level compared to Spider. While Spiders are Arachnida, Bugs and Insects are Insecta, with more variations on its Order-class. They have different body structure such as body segments, legs, antennae, etc. Therefore, Spiders are not Bugs nor Insects.
Please read and think of what you've typed in the forum because every time I read your comments, it is almost as if you're begging me to humiliate your intelligence by using (worthless) semantics to point out your piece.
I don't care what you think. If you think spiders and are bugs despite the stated fact, then that's fine. Do not insult my intelligence by pulling it into your level, I won't engage in semantics with you.
To the question of 'Then, to what level does the MC of Worm can control the insects? Is it up to Class-level, or Phylum-level?'
My answer would be: I don't give a fuck. It's not a scientific novel.
Err... no. "Bug" is not a scientific term. It's a colloquialism for every little creepy crawly thing. And, that's exactly what Taylor controls. Therefore, she controls bugs.
You can't say "no, bug = insect" for a colloquialism. Colloquialisms are not bound by scientific definitions and precise dilliniations. They are just determined by whatever large swaths of the public seem to think the term means at any given time. It's an imprecise definition that can even change over time. But, by an large, it winds up meaning anything and everything that you might get swarmed by if creepy-crawlies start appearing in a horror movie. So, if you think it might appear in a "the walls are crawling" gross-out scene in a horror movie, it's a bug.

You're putting high expectations for basement dwellers. This one and the clown yesterday are hopeless examples.
If that's true, I'm next in line for the Malaysian throne.
No, I just find you insufferable, and sometimes I can't stop myself from commenting.
Dude pulled an Ackthually move on me, so I can't resist to pull down a Reverse uno card. Dude doesn't realized I got a fictional Scientific Doctorate on debate, but I won't engage in semantics or entertain mediocrity. You don't know how entertaining these threads are to me while eating my morning Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Yer welcome. You don't know how entertaining these threads are to me while eating my morning Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

No, no! LOL! I definitely prefer female canon characters as protagonists, with female OCs being second. Easier to sympathize and empathize for me. The main reason why the fics I mention in the original post are dominated by male OCs is there is a dearth of Royal Road worm fanfics (and I preferred Royal Road as my source of fiction until I found the glory that is Space Battles), so I was kind of desperate and picked up reading them with little discrimination as to what I chose.Edit: On a second thought, seems you like male OCs as protagonists. In that case, sorry, we have nothing to talk about. Seems we will never cross paths again. Goodbye
