It turns out your missing little sister have become a magical girl and she's been sacrificing herself to seal the great evil, She crystalize herself and the great evil in order to do that.

They're stuck in time, inside the great crystal, and nobody can destroy them or free them yet.

Now after you have learned the truth, the magical power inside you have been awakened.

You have the ability to decide your power.

#1 One is the power to go back to the past according to the accumulation of power. If you beat enough monster and villains, you can go back before your sister sacrifice herself.

#2 The other is the power of prolonging your life by killing monster and villains and become strong to accumulate and achieve feats and eventually free her yourself after enough time passed.

Which one would you chose ? And why ?

Second. In the first case scenario you would need to accumulate much more power to regress than it takes to free her. Because finding and killing monsters and villains requires time and as more time passes the more power you need to go back in time to save her.

Either is acceptable, so it would take more information to decide.

Off the top of my head, aren't these two offering different powers? In the first one, if you kill monsters, you go back in time. That's minimally helpful once it's done. The second one effectively makes you stronger and immortal in addition to letting you free your sister, right? Or is that just poor wording? If not, then the second one is just straight up better.

What if we just let her die so we have a vindictive reason for revenge where there is no redemption for the evil?

If its a story, i prefer second choice. It make more dramatic and straightforward (because it linear:blob_hide:). if you go back in time it feel like negate what your little sister done

If you go back in time, you erase the reason you went back in time, creating a time paradox.

Since these runs on fantasy logic, I assume going back in time would result in you getting eaten by the abominable catgirls lurking behind many-angled space....

So, you would try to break the crystal, but your magical girl sister won't recognize you, because after eating too many power sources larger than your head, you are hardly the person you once were.

However, if you are a magical male in a magical girl show, you also create a paradox, and trigger the invasion of abominable catgirls from behind the many-angled space and subsequent death of all reality.

If you are a magical girl in a magical girl show, it's slightly better, but your newly awakened sister would mistake you for the villain and would use mecha-class beam weaponry to inflict grave injuries on you....

There are always massive potential pitfalls in travelling to the past (at least one of which is undoing her sacrifice to save her and freeing the thing she sought to stop), so always choose to go forward when that is an option.
