rival authors would hunt you down if you got popular.
On a serious note, I don't think you'd get anything like paparazzi or public stabbing just because your work turns out to suck in the end. Most of the time, you'd get mocked online by some nobody who lives under their mother's basement

I mean you’re an anonymous web author as far as I know. So if you put some effort into it I’m sure you can avoid getting doxxed by using today’s sponsor: Nord VPN.

With Nord VPN, you can browse securely from over 5,000 servers worldwide, keeping your online identity hidden while you chase that Nobel glory without the unwanted fame. Plus, their Threat Protection feature blocks malware and trackers, ensuring your web fiction stays your secret passion. Use my affiliate code “Pirates” for a special discount on your subscription—stay anonymous, stay inspired!

Well, gee, and I thought my "Writing is only the third most important of my four part time jobs" was a good excuse but no, this is better.

What if I end up catching attention and get nominated for Nobel prize in literature? I don't like the spotlight.

Seriously, though, you can always use a pen name and remain anonymous, which 99.9% of all SH authors do ;)

if you win a Nobel Prize, just react like Tobey Maguire

I’m afraid of being nominated too. All those photons in the spotlight could irreversibly disintegrate my DNA.
