I’ve noticed that getting views on web novels seems tougher than it did years ago, and I’ve seen others mention this too. I’m curious to hear people's opinions on why this might be happening, or if it is.

Increased competition in comparison to reader base numbers. SH only recently went over 200k registered accounts, and according to the SHF front page there is typicaly between 4k & 5k people on the platform at a time (with ~70% of those people being unregistered)

There is a whole thread about this in the tips area.
  1. There is more competition, at least in the "popular" tags.
  2. People don't post compelling Synopses or use interesting cover art.
  3. People don't self-promote well.
  4. People don't put their best work in the first chapter, often posting a rough one expecting readers to say "Well, this has potential; maybe it gets better" rather than "This was too much work to read. I'll look for something else."
Pretty much in that order

Hay furst nice name and I would say because of the site itselflike it's not bad but from what I know it doesn't categorize Besiffic enough like fox stories, Space stories and the such I would absolutely love that

A writer bursting with stories who just joined Scribblehub here. I heard a lot about how this site is good for new writers.
So posting the link to my new story here.
I hope it gets traction and readers.

I've been here since July 2020, and number 1 reason for this is because the end of the pandemic. I know a lot of old members who disappeared because they returned to work and can't find much time to write their works.

Second, the oversaturation of similar genres and tropes of novels that can be found here. Like, one can literaly skip a few dozen early chapters and still follow through the story.

Third, we have a reputation. This isn't called "SmutHub" for nothing, though smut novels are just a little percentage of the total number of works here. Naturally, some holy peeps avoid this site like a plague, preferring 'clean' sites like Royal Road. /s

Fourth, many readers avoid touching novels with 'few' chapters for fear of getting shorthanded. Investing time and excitement, only to get bamboozled in the end coz the author dropped it.
